I’ve watched a bit of this TV show from the ‘90s, and I came to a funny conclusion.
The show is about a former cop who’s on the run after being framed for murder (and he works as a bounty hunter, but I don’t know how relevant that is to my conclusion).
The person who plays the main antagonist - that committed the murder and framed the hero - is the show’s creator.
So, in more ways than one, he’s responsible for the hero’s predicament.
I’m reading a novel for the first time in a shamefully long while.
I like it so far.
One funny thing that came to mind was an episode of The Simpsons. To set it up, the last name of the novel’s protagonist is Colbert. Anyway, this Simpsons episode had Homer as a political pundit, and when Marge was bringing up her reservations, Homer said he was playing a character “like Stephen Colbert or Newt Gingrich”.
I do feel like I can say “no“ to her suggestions. And as for the novel, when she did a manuscript evaluation, it did feel like she was respecting my vision and trying to make it better.
Nah, I don’t think so.
I think we’re just two awkward people.
I think another reason it feels strange sometimes is that I’m not used to talking about my story out loud (except in Japanese to my partner) and while she has extensive literature experience being a teacher for a long time and all, she’s relatively new to this editing gig.
And the first thing I got her to edit was a book of poetry, and neither of us knew how to go about it And we were awkward about it.
I’m thinking maybe the novel will be better, and by this time, she’s already had multiple clients. Not going to get an extensive edit or anything though. Too pricey.
Lmao why does everyone and their mother sell custom tarot decks? And they make up stupid names for the suits… Like whatever happened to Pentacles, Wands, Cups and Swords, or, I dunno, the Elements? It’s almost as if it’s a rite of passage. Are you even a real queer artist if you don’t sell a custom tarot deck with in-jokes and indecipherable nonsense?
I swear I can trace all of this back to Tumblr. Tumblr must be tried for its crimes; we need reparations.
