This reminds me of a scene in a manga. There’s a one-sided mirror glass thing. On one side, a demon creature thing is murdering rich people and eating them. On the other side, people are enjoying the party as if nothing is happening.

Ok the tl;dr of why the rock works is that most locks are spring activated so hitting the lock causes the spring to pop.
That being said, it stands to reason that you can hit it with any object—even punching it. There’s a dude on YouTube/TikTok who half the time just posts videos of himself hitting locks with other locks, and that opens them.
