on a lighter note, did some cursory research on whitetail deer today. My fictional cult is deer-themed so I’m looking at stuff like behaviours and herd heirarchies to incorporate.
Did you know that whitetail deer travel in small herds of 3-5 divided by gender in the summer, and combine in the winter for better snow-clearing and protection from predators?

Why pepper spray is illegal in Australia
Ooo, why? I know some people use bear spray for countries where it’s illegal.
is it because it’s illegal to carry ‘weapons’ for self defense? that’s why it’s illegal here 
you have to carry dog spray and be able to prove you live/work/walk in an area where you would reasonably need to have it

I think they look at the area and confirm anything like feral dog reports or coyotes sightings.

It’s classified as a “prohibited weapon” and you can get jail time for just carrying it. You can get a permit but, and I never thought I’d say this, it’s easier to get a gun license than a pepper spray one

Here you have to prove you need a reason to use it (and by that I mean you can only get one AFTER you’ve been attacked, have proof of said attack, and don’t have it dismissed like they always do), need to go through a background check, and they recommend that you instead, and this is a quote from the official government website, “avoid unsafe areas” and “reasons for it to be necessary”
