Strange Things You've Had to Research for Your Writing

Just spotted you talking about my other language :stuck_out_tongue:

Idk if it’s strange. I looked up today,

describe trombone sound
describe cello sound

Because I have a fantasy instrument that makes both sounds.

Whoa, that’s super cool! Is it a string and wind instrument?

Thanks!

You blow into it, and there’s a place where you pluck strings (like a harp). It’s closer to a cross between a trumpet and a cello if you look at the shape.

Ahhh, that sounds awesome! ;–;

If you think you shouldn’t tag Lex, you should.

Yeah, I didn’t know either. I expected someone on the Internet to have done something stupid like that, but found nothing.

So I solved it like this:

Green and yellow clouds hover in the sky, man made northern lights that make the world look like a video game.

:eyes: heh, the more you know.

Now, if I haven’t made the ‘to watch list’ thus far now I think I’ve done it… or they simply don’t exist

  • are there automatic shotguns (yes, there are, the AA12 for example)
  • what are the fastest working anasthetics (lots of difficult words, 30 to 60 seconds)
  • would injecting in the neck reduce time required for anasthetics (directly into a vein works best)
  • how long before prosthetics can be set up (almost immediately after amputation)
  • how long can you keep people in a cage before they go crazy (it varies, I have to ask my kids :-))
  • can you combine one way mirrors with bullet proof glass (yes, you can)
  • how many bullets does it take to penetrate bullet proof glass (depends on many factors)

Yeah, especially after this…

“You can come down now, Eleanore,” he says, using a syrupy sweet tone that chills me to the bone. “I know you want nothing more than that, don’t you? And you can call me ‘Master’ now.”

“Yes, Master,” I whisper, and find there’s nothing more I want from life than to follow his order.

Now everyone thinks I’m even adding some kinky stuff… and no, I’m not writing another whatever-shades-of-grey sequel, it’s actually an action scene, and completely weird when taken out of context.

Haha :joy: I was about to say what in the smut corner :joy:

In context this time

Summary

“Whath tho you think?” he says, raising his glas. “I thith what every sane person would tho. Whath Arthur couldn’t, and Kaelyn wouldn’t, and look what happened to them.” He tries to spit out a glob of blood and saliva onto a clean patch of the white carpet, but instead it slowly drops down from his chin.

“You did what?”

“Yes, Eleanore. Eleanore… Remember that drug I was supposed to use on you? The one that turned your poor driver into a killer? I’ve improved on it by adding liquid sevoflurane and sodium thiopental, and some other things that won’t mean much to you. Much faster, but especially much safer. For me, that is. There’s some ongoing dispute about Alzenheimer.” He shrugs. “The best thing? No need to wait until the eyes change color.”

I groan. They did demonstrate their improved version of the red dust Blaise is addicted to. It turned Morgan’s driver - what was his name again? Russel? - into an obedient slave, willing to kill two strangers, and then himself. Huddle cheated on Arthur, giving me something else. This time… if it’s the real stuff…

OOTC: looking into the side effects of anasthetics. Wow… not one seems entirely safe…

:eyes: still creepy haha

Just the bit with the instrument called a torpent.

The torpent gave a long, buttery sound like a soft humming together with the delicate plucking of its light strings.

and

Each time the obnoxious torpent blared, the music filled his chest.

Torpents can be soft and soothing, but also loud and obnoxious.
