I’ve taken 2 months away from my completed book and I’m kind of thinking of starting revision notes for it. Does anyone have a problem of wanting to change all of the content, to the point where it wouldn’t even be the same book? How do you resist that?
I was really happy with the content when I initially finished, but now I’m debating about changing the setting, when and how the inciting incident happens, and then from there the changes keep spiraling out and affecting everything. I want to reign that in a bunch but it’s so difficult.

I’m completely rewriting my book. I might not be able to use any of the scenes written in draft one. It’s annoying to have to write it all over again, but I’m using the end result as my motivation. It’s going to be a better book in the end.
Don’t be afraid to change things but do it consciously. Analyze why the initial idea didn’t work and why the new one will work better. If at this point it’s just an idea and you don’t know if it will work, write it down so you don’t forget and then you’ll have some thinking to do.

So I finally got the “lizard king” reference from Spongebob.
Patrick was calling himself “lizard king” and so did the lead singer of “The Doors”. You can tell it was written by Gen Xers.

I never did gigantic changes. Usually, when I edit, I just expand significantly.
And yay! Finished another chapter, but too lazy to edit it. It ended as 2.2K, so not horrible in terms of length. Now, just 2 scenes left!
