French humor is often raunchy and graphic without them actually being pervs. It’s the direct opposite of British “stiff upper lip”.
But I’m Cajun French, so some of what is mainstream to France just plain misses me. I do know what is respectable to call a teacher over here is a bordello operator in France. Teachers from France are warned before the kids talk to them. It could cause a misunderstanding.

I’m romantic but not sensual, so adventure+romance is the biggest draw for me, but I also like the drama of relationship and building both lovers as a person, then showing that while they have other options, the ultimate fit is with their lover. It’s one reason I almost never do strictly monogamous individuals.

I’m not sure because I didn’t read your story. If you have someone who did, maybe ask if they see a problem that disappears, but can grow, tying in with the love-story, or a secondary character who could highlight your lover’s story with their story. That’s unless you can expand on your lovers conflicts. See if one of them overshadows another in depth/exploration/conflict. See if they can have essential scenes that will enhance the main story. Like, if you have your 40K, chances are you already have a handle on the main storyline.
Rivals and Revels for me went from 39K at the end of ONC to 70K as a novel. I added a lot more scenes with brothers’ actually being in conflict, more meetings with one of them (I think it was a good 5 more occasions they saw one another), and an expanded participation by an important side character, as well as a much expanded finale where my lovers now both made a grand gesture, not just one of them.

I’m not entering Lio into it, and I made an outline for I Must Confess, but the words aren’t coming out for it. I hit a slump. All of my stories are a mess structurally, it seems. I need something with action to write, or something.
Yeah, I couldn’t get either of them to 70k even if I tried.

Read some stories similar to plot in what you want to execute and see how they’re structured, perhaps.

Hmm… good point but I don’t know where to find books like mine, similar in plot. I’ll just have to hammer something into the Wattpad search engine and see what comes up.

Just published Chapter XVII, am in the middle of writing Chapter XVIII, and I’ve binged more than 5 chapters within 24 hours. Hope to keep this rolling

Well, you can’t just throw things into it, it would be what you don’t like, and justly so–fluffing stuff up. You can always post your outline for critique in the Writing helps section, then maybe peeps can help you tease out the threads that could evolve.

Yes maybe I will do that when I work on things more and decide which story is flowing and working the best. I do want to do this right.

I had a brilliant idea.
- I am going to download Jami Gold’s template and update it in Excel to keep me right, but I am also gonna use Scrivener for the ideas and for developing them.
I’m reading some romance template pages online, so maybe these will help me out. I am making a template right now as we speak.

Wow, gotta hand it to ya. That is some stamina. I would’ve passed out. I hope all the aches/pains get better soon.
I actually did the same thing to my mom when I was a kid at Disney. We were eating someplace and there was a parade. It distracted me, and she took her eyes off of me for 2 seconds, and went crazy thinking I went missing. Found me in a minute, but still, she was pissed haha don’t let go of my hand! And I was like… Mickey Mouse in the parade? 
My poor mom. Sorry you had to go through that. 
I’m kind of working on two novel ideas while still editing the complete draft of another. I am a MESS!
I tried downloading one of those cool “character sheets” with all the questions hoping it would help me flesh out some of the characters. I was wrong my friends. It only overwhelmed me even more. 
Am I the only person that feels like I don’t need to know absolutely every friggin’ detail of a character to read/write/like them? Birthmarks? Blood type? Unless it’s important to the story, who gaf?
I might be procrastinating on editing bc of the dopamine offered by the new ideas. Help…

I am glad that I can handle making at least small revisions to Maximus. Not making short list really screwed with my head in regards to this story. And, of course, triggered the whole imposter syndrome. I am not sure what the extent of my revisions is going to be, but at the very least, I would like to do a quick rewrite with the new names for the Empire.
But I also am hot on the throttle to edit Trapped by the Mafia to time the release of the free chapters on Radish with starting to release the new version of Raised by the Mafia on Wattpad. I desperately hope that at least some people would like to check out Raised by the Mafia. Ideally, I would like a backlog for the 3rd book chapters to start on it as a true Freemium. Which can be possible IF I get my part-time offer at work.
Then, I should actually be capable of writing two books at the same time. I don’t want Fireman’s Girl on Radish because I still have an illusion that maybe I will be able to query it?
Plus, the pile of books that are just for me. 3rd book in Lone Werewolf trilogy. It’s now a trilogy in my mind, I can’t help it. Edits to Maximus… no matter if it can hit 50K or not with it… and my first GxG book, Tender Assassin.

No, I am with Lisa Cron. When they say that you need to know everything, they mean ‘everything relevant to the growing conflict in the story you are telling’. I do like having an idea of how my main characters look like, but I usually just go with a figure skater or something memorable about them (Thanks, Andrei Anisimov for giving that beauty mark to Everett and making me realize how noticeable they actually are, explaining 19th century obsession with them) so…

Nope! I dont. All I need to know to write a character is the personality/looks. I dont need every single detail. Sometimes I’ll make it up if it fits a scene (so idk going with blood type I’ll think it up on the spot when relevant IF relevant ever)
Idk why people ever think that kind of depth is ever required
