As bad as editing is, what awaits me later, and that’s fighting chapter one again, is worse. I hate chapter 1, and they stall my work so much.
Fingers crossed for you.
I don’t know. It could be also that the vaccine is doing its job.
But yes, my symptoms have been pretty mild so far.
Thankfully mine was negative, they told me that I wouldn’t get my results for 12 to 24 hours and got it within the hour lmao
Not vaccinated and would be considered at-risk, at my weight. The vaccinated person in our household had it bad enough to go in for fluids. First person tested out of 3 households was vaccinated, too. But that’s anecdotal.
I haven’t bothered to continue to keep track, but last year’s papers out of Israel indicated the virus was weakening, and the traditional model for epidemics show that viruses decrease severity for transmission. I mean, it’s standard to the study of disease spread. If a disease is too strong, it kills before transmission. It’s a big part of why Ebola has never gone pandemic. So, a lot of that “we don’t know” is by not going with standards in disease studies.
None of that meant I went around trying the catch the sucker, of course. Just knew it was inevitable because transmission should be easier.
The controversy in studies has been more on the effectiveness of the vaccines (of which boosters haven’t been offered faster than their loss of efficiency). But that tends to get shot down, quickly with people because that’s where people start pointing at each other and getting ugly.
I realized today how much I like Felix the Cat. I think he’s public domain now, too.

cool.
I just saw that a singer I was slightly basing Volya from Lone Werewolf has died yesterday. Makes me feel sad.
Day 5 of Covid. Why do my eyeballs hurt?
So good news and bad news:
Good news: one of my longtime readers from a while back has finally dipped her toes into writing and started writing fanfiction of my book.
Bad news: it reads like My Immortal, and as much as I’m in favor of letting writers do their own thing, given my name is kind of on this I don’t know how much artistic guidance I want them to provide. I want them to be successful on Wattpad with their writing, but I also doubt it’s happening with their approach.
I gave it a shout-out on my profile before it really dawned on me that someone might read it and think “gee, this is what FranklinBarnes considers good writing? What bad taste!” I don’t want to seem ungrateful or anything—I truly am grateful—but I also want an approach that will make everyone happy in the long term.
don’t worry about that. You’re supporting a friend. That’s more important than someone’s stray thought. What I do is I keep reading lists for books I really liked that I run into. One for those I have finished, one for those–I haven’t (yet). That reflects my actual taste.
Good news: I’m entering Camp NaNo
Bad news: I’m gonna freestyle! ![]()
I’m in this boat a lot. When I’m “mentally on a roll” it’s like my brain unlocks all the awesome vocabulary that’s usually hidden in the dusty, dark recesses of my brain. Problem is, I’m rarely in this mode if I’m trying to make myself write even if I’m not “inspired” and words that I know, words that I KNOW I should know, I can’t bring them to the surface. It drives me nuts. Simple words too. Lots of typos also. It’s tough. I feel you as a fellow sufferer of depression & ADHD.
Hang in there.
Oh, no!
Feel better.

I think Klaus is my favorite. He’s a riot. ![]()
My ADHD is either helping or going to destroy me. We’ll find out in time. Things I’ve decided within the last week:
- Want to self publish poetry. First step, regularly share my stuff on Twitter via buffer/on WattPad to get a following, and then figure out how finding an editor works for poetry.
- Try to get a poem out more often between all the fiction. (hahahahaha
) - I still haven’t fleshed out certain things in my 2 new novel ideas so I’ve decided not to stress it, treat it like one shots, write stuff as it comes while I try to focus on editing my first draft of Without Parole
- I need to stop procrastinating editing. Still building an excel sheet as I go through all the chapters and summarize in bullets what’s in each chapter, any feedback from readers, and my own desired changes. My ADHD brain is already screaming, “TEDIOUS!” so I’m trying to do it a little at a time? Why did I write 50 something chapters again?
- Connect with more writers. Started trying to put more effort into reading WattPad stories that I like (hard to find) to learn from, and hopefully network with in the future. Also dropped back into that DreamLand Community on Discord. I have no idea what to say there.
I feel like I’m trying to do too much at once. At the same time, I’m so frustrated with feeling like I’m not accomplishing anything fast enough, and I’m not getting any younger, I just want to reach a goal. ANY goal. Even if it’s in baby steps and it takes me ages. ![]()
I’ll be traveling (hopefully, if covid lets me), so I don’t know how much time I’ll find, so I was going to skip but then a case of major FOMO hit me, so I set a 5k goal just to have something.
Tiny goals, go!
I’ve never been diagnosed with ADHD but I might have it. I can definitely relate to wanting to do it all at the same time.
It’s cool sometimes because it’s like a superpower but it can easily crash hard.
If you ever feel overwhelmed by it all, just step back. Goals are awesome but the world will not end if you don’t achieve them all at once.
That’s true. I have a hard time remembering that. I just spend a lot of periods “doing nothing” that when I do have the mental energy, it’s like a mad rush to accomplish everything I can before the luck runs out.
I might make a schedule. Like set up Tweets one day out of the week for a few mins, Buffer will auto-tweet them. I already try to use my lunch breaks (I work remotely) to write/network/check forums/whatever. And I’ve been making a habit of trying to read when I cook, and I’m letting something simmer/boil/bake/whatever.
Like I can’t always find a big chunk of dedicated time, so it’s like I gotta try to grab a few minutes here and there. Make the most of it. (sigh)
I think I’m proving your point. I need a break. ![]()
In writing news, I’ve been making progress with the armonica chapter (which has become two chapters). Sometimes all I can add is a couple of sentences which explains why it took me so long to get here (I’m pretty sure I’ve set out to get to this point in April). I got sidetracked a few times along the way.
But I’m happy with how this draft is going. Slowly but surely.
