Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

Okay, finished the first chapter. I stopped at 1100 words since it had a incident in the story and want to go from there in 2nd chapter

I am so tempted to write a modern word in my non-modern story.

So, okay, my demon girl Nightingale grabs the demon cloud with her hair like Medusa, swings her head back to slingshot them at the human.

I immediately thought of the word “yeet” and cracked up at my own idea.

wow. to get on radish is an achievement in itself . I’ve been rejected there five times. So, I know my destiny is not with them.

Keep at it. Sometimes the market is slow to wake up. According to similar web, a few main web novel sites were frequented more by males and than females in the past 3 months. On avg from what I saw the split was something like 40/60 percent. So, there likely has been a slight shift away from general romance for these sites during this time. This might have been a trend across the board.

Everything comes in waves. So, there is still a chance to pick up your readership.

What I’ve noticed is whenever I add a new book, it takes 2 - 3 days to appear on the “newly added” part of the homepage. In those 2-3 days I never get ANY reads, I think because no one can see it unless they click your profile, and no one really does that, they just look on stories rather than the author, opposite to Wattpad.
Once it’s up on the “newly added” part of the homepage, you’ll see a surge. Apply to all the “always on” promos on the writers dashboard too, and they send you an email every month with the new topics for the next month (things like soulmates, second chance tropes etc) and apply to those too.

I managed to get on the gift box this month and it’s really done my earnings and views so much favours. It will get there, Radish just takes a long time to tap into <3

Thank you for the heads up! I will def apply for promos when I have a non-free story posted. I just need to figure out how I publish a few episodes at once not on schedule.

Yup, I found the hot topics in their April and May letters, so I target that, despite the list making me throw up a little in my mouth. Like, BDSM is leading. What kind of site is it? Ouch.

For now though, I am going to focus on writing the jankiest story for them, that I wouldn’t want to either put on Wattpad or query, because I would hate to lock it out from those opportunities and have no reads on Radish. So, it’s like a pour of whining on the page right now in it. And I am not checking it for any realistic set up. It’s just a trope after trope.

If you go into the “season” of the book, there should be a list of the episodes you have, and if you click the … on the draft ones it should allow you to publish them manually one by one.

Ugh I know, some of them just make me vomit. Some of their most popular ones are just vile. Ooof.

It’s appropriate. Could even make a running gag of: “Where did you pick up that archaic word from, an etymological study?”

Write a character that’s freaked out but curious, and you can explore the lighter end without too much headache, especially if the one who is into it at all is highly principled.

But in all honesty, that can be such a rabbit hole.

I sort of looked, but I will work some more on it during the weekend. I still need a bit of breathing room to get books 1 and 2 of Tangorellos in shape, and like 10 episodes for the exclusive one vomited out. I also need to figure out that model with locking some chapters away because I want to try that for the exclusive book, vs Freemium.

No. I can do teen preg if I have to, but that stuff, NO.

It is tempting, but the moment was in the narration, so I don’t think so

I don’t mind rare breaking 4th wall.

We all have our limits.

BDSM, proper, where they are taking care of each other with their fetishes, I can hang (not necessarily write, just not freaked out). But a lot of it ain’t that.

Starting a new filler story called Love & Apathy, and seeing how it goes whilst I work out other things. :coolpineapple:

Anyway, other than the teen preg sap, I started a new run at Fireman’s Girl. Maybe it’s because I am editing stories in the Present Tense, I started revising it in present tense. It feels more natural for a thriller too, plus I need to get into the character, so I had to edit the chapters anyway. Which puts me in the beginning of chapter 3 out of 10 I need to return to clubs. Sometimes I wish things happened faster…

My head is all over the place.

It’s my last days at work before vacation so I’m crunching to get things done.
But I’ve also had some good writing sessions recently and want to continue while the trend lasts.
So I end up not getting either done right.
