Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

Hello, I am writing the first chapter of my first story. I’m not really sure how many words my chapters should be.I’m at 719 words right now.

Most people do a minimum of 1,500 words per chapter but it really depends on if the chapter needs that many words or what type of book you’re writing.

thinking of the next paragraph to write for this chapter. e.e I got the idea but i’m like how do i start it.

It depends on the type of readership base you gain and how you int end to release it. If it’s dumped all at once, chapter length means nothing. But if you’re releasi g on a schedule, measured chapters are better because people are giving up a part of their week to read this.

Makes sense.

I’ll stick to a certain word count and leave it be.

I’ll proofread, edit then put it on my website

No it absolutely doesn’t

What you are saying is that it doesn’t matter?

I don’t think anybody minds when chapters get longer or shorter than previous ones.

If you’re not posting it doesn’t matter. It only matters when you are looking at specific sites and people’s expectations there. And even then, it’s a range

Well, today’s update at Radish was a complete and utter flop. 0 views. Unless they count it on 24 hour cycle… anyway, because of that I’ll just do the maudlin nauseating teen preg-amnesia x mafia second chances scenario exclusive there, because I would be ashamed to post it on WP. If that gets 0 views, that’s the end of the line there. I don’t want to waste good books on it.
