Do as you want, but make sure you have a very strong worldview if you dip into areas the.at demand you follow the crowd. There is a demand for fight scenes for example.
I will say that there’s not a story out there that starts with a gardener finding 2 brand new baby fairies in her rosebush, becoming a mom overnight (in a manner that makes her worried about the loonie bin), so dating is the worry of being a single mom and “not normal”.
Damn, that sounds like a break from all the effing wolves.

I think I’m starting to go down that path 
Going from 2 mystery/romances and a paranormal/fantasy romance to now just plain romance is kinda boring me. I need something gritty

Mine are short and aggressive so I don’t have to continue writing OR deliberately told as if I’m on Normandy Beach and can’t make sense of what the hell I’m seeing, mostly. I can do more than that, but really, the majority is this.

you wanna publish without someone telling you
to do X, Y, and Z and then have someone else
say that XYZ is crap and you should just do A?

better than zero and, like, life gets busy or writing isn’t there. I mean, even if writing were a job, breaks are good. And since it’s a hobby, breaks are needed even more. It’s okay not to write. It’s just a simple truth.
