it’s so normal, i didn’t realize it either! until i had to look up how to format a book and one of the steps was creating “first paragraphs”

Never heard of Lobster. I hate Times New Roman too, and any serif font. I love sans serif now. (ღ˘ᴗ˘ღ) 
I never indent paragraphs since my books are ebooks first, then dtbs second. Indentations use up valuable real estate on a phone or tablet screen. I use drop caps for the first paragraph of a chapter instead. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

I just follow my academic formatting guidelines when writing whatever. It’s been drilled into my head over the years.
Arial, 12pt, double spacing. No justifying. Serifs like Times New Roman are frowned upon because they’re not very accessible. I prefer not to do indents unless it’s required (I.e. quotes). It’s kind of a personal choice whether to indent paragraphs or not.
Also I don’t care about formatting beyond the bare minimum. That’s someone else’s job. It’s just a bunch of symbols at the end of the day. If I got hung up on how the text looks, then I wouldn’t get anything done.

I found Lobster on Google Docs.
The only way I would use Time New Roman is if I am writing an essay for school. I am no longer in school.
There’s no point in using it, personally. LOL!

I guess I’m an odd one out? I like Times New Roman and write anything and everything with it.
Others, I do like Garamond. If I’m going to publish, I’ll change the font, but only when I get to that formatting point.

i like times new roman too! and Garamond, a little. Adobe Garamond Pro is used in professionally published books, specifically the Raven Cycle series and the Maze Runner series. But you have to pay to use it… Cardo is the closest equivalent i could find.
