Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

does it have specifically Adobe Garamond Pro or does it have Garamond?

bc Garamond is a default font that comes with MS Word, like Times New Roman and Arial. but Adobe Garamond Pro is a font published and liscenced only by Adobe.

Edit: and idk if you would have to pay for it if you somehow already have it but you would definitely have to cite it because it’s not an open access font.

yeah there are like a bunch of Garamond-style fonts, it’s like its own font family or something, but not all of them are free u^u

Ugh! I don’t know how I want to start The Breakers Series!
I don’t even know what it should be about and I am struggling to figure that out!

Ugh! Much Frustration!

Also, since I’ve made changes to the story in my mind…I still don’t know how to start the story or what it should be about.

I hate asking for help on this because WHO IN THE WORLD CAN HELP ME WITH SOMETHING SO SIMPLE!!!

Rant over.

There are a remarkable amount of people reading my sequel without having read the first book. I can’t imagine this is doing wonders for reader retention, though they seem to like it? :man_shrugging:t2:

Does Garamond Pro look something like this?

Thank you once again for the help in one of my threads.
I just felt the need to share this.

It makes total sense.

I’ve been further working on my paranormal novel. This version is so different from the very first draft, it’s essentially a different story that uses the same characters and setting.

And so I’m wondering if I should repost the original story I wrote for ONC 2021 that I had previously taken down for edits. The only thing stopping me is that I’d like to edit before publishing it but I don’t want to waste my time on that. So I’d have to publish it as it was. I have a copy of that initial draft saved so I could just do copy paste. I guess knowing that that first draft has issues is also what stops me.

I’m at this strange point where I’ve been absent from Wattpad enough to not care about it as much as I used to and so I’m also wondering if I should post it at all or take it down completely.

I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I know that first draft will never be published in print, it just has too many issues, so it could stay up online as free reading indefinitely. The draft I’m working on now might be good enough for publishing (assuming it doesn’t fall apart halfway through) so it might never make it onto Wattpad. So there’s no reason to hold back the first draft.

But then what exactly am I gaining from putting it online? It’s not exactly an example of great writing. It had potential that never paid off. So I’m not expecting to gain much readership from it. It could even hurt my reputation if I ever make one.

But the idea of a completed book gathering digital dust until the file gets corrupted or lost bothers me. Post it under a separate account? Or maybe my account and just build a reading list of old works that aren’t edited to explain the quality problem?

I don’t know.

I want to do a inspiration board for The Breakers Series on Pinterest.

I already have one that was originally meant for my Tales of Alterra series, but it is growing and continues to grow. There is too much pictures that are over 800. There was one that was in the thousands if memory serves me.

I just have to figure out what this inspiration board will do for The Breakers Series far as purpose. I need to redo my Pinterest boards all over again or delete things that don’t even matter.

That is one of the many I need to do.

So much inspiration! I am going to write a picture prompt story using four different pictures as inspiration.

Do not worry because I am still going to work on The Breakers Series.

Bye, bye!

For sure! 2022 probably had been the worst year of my life so far. I can only hope 2023 would be better.

That’s an interesting question. I do keep stories on that I am not going to edit and take down those I think I will. But in my case I try to maintain ‘alive’ account with lots of books so I could plug them in if people ask for recommendations.

If it makes you feel better I can share a recipe with you on how to make Pan de Jamon. It’s olives and hams in a sticky bread.

In order to upload the next chapter of my light mage story, I had to edit the chapter a little bit and realized there was a whole bunch of STUFF that was filler to finish writing the story already.

I had to go and sort through all the filler.

Painful.

But I got the chapter up!

Also, decided to add a new scene in the next chapter where light mage Glint is able to visit the prisoner Calani and talk to her and help her escape. She ends up giving him a pep-talk :stuck_out_tongue: But that’s how they develop a closer relationship.

The Breakers Series is broken down into three plotlines that when connected form one massive plot.

Geez, how am I going to come up with three good plot that connect overtime and not only wow me,but anyone who would read this story much later?

Heh…I have to plan deeper with this.
Nothing else to report.
