That sounds so good! Congrats to you!

I wish you luck! I was so happy when I pushed past this last scene in my story just now.
That sounds awesome.
Good luck. I was always more inclined to go to book stores that ran a small coffee shop in them. Other people find that sacrilege to the books.
Congratulations! I hope you have a fantastic career from running the bookshop!

i have to write a Marsy chapter and i don’t think i’ve ever been more annoyed at something i haven’t even put on page yet. This re-write fixed all the other problems i had but it created a huge gaping new one by demolishing Marsy’s character. I need to go in and fix it but ughhhhh that means so much work and I just want to be done these last two chapters so i can put this project aside and plan for nano instead.
Am I even doing nano this year? i wanted to but maybe stopping in the third arc of two different projects to plunge into an entirely new one isn’t the move this year. I haven’t completed anything since I moved last year and I’d like to. And I don’t even have any inspiration to start a new book. Hm… we’ll see. There’s still a month left.

How is writing going?
I’ve been wondering lately about updating my Kofi goal.
In January, I set the goal at $200 to buy Campfire. I have one and only one supporter who not only donated to the cause, but as soon I enabled monthly payments, he signed up and has been donating for several months.
It definitely makes me feel guilty for not publishing new content yet. I’m trying to get there. I really am.
By now, I’ve purchased nearly all Campfire modules, the ones I wanted the most, so it felt weird to keep that goal still there, but I didn’t know what else to shoot for.
But today I got an idea. There’s an expense that I will have in the future before I decide to publish for real: editing.
It’s easy to forget about that. Considering the amount of editing I do on my own and the state of publishing stuff online, I haven’t needed to pay an editor yet.
But then recently, as I was listening to a book on Spotify (All Vampires Are Gay, I do recommend it), and I was thinking, hey, this sounds like a properly edited book, it sounds so smooth, and I wondered if maybe this is how I’d like to publish my book too one day - in audio, but I would want it to be as smooth. That reminded me of how expensive professional editors are.
Hence the new Ko-fi goal was born. I set it at $1000 and I’m wondering if even that is enough. It’s time to start setting a budget aside.
I’m not promoting stuff enough to expect to get new supporters anytime soon, but maybe I can retain this one supporter for a while longer.
…
In writing news, I’m making slow progress but there’s progress and that’s important.
That’s why I usually aim for either really short complete series, series that are pretty new that I want to get ahead of the anime because the anime is too slow/season ended/hiatus/whatever (like SpyxFamily), or stuff I’ve already read online/seen in anime form, but want to keep in book form because it’s just that good, and is a short series. Not like One Piece/Naruto/Bleach/some other crazy long runners. Animes that cut off, and continue in manga are great candidates too. No one wants to wait a decade later for them to decide on adding another season.
I’ve been collecting “The way of the house husband” and a few more. ![]()
Oh, I wish I could hire an editor too! But with my book earnings, lol… not going to happen.
shitty lol, i don’t know where to start fixing this problem and i can’t focus
how’s your writing going?
I think it all depends on where you’re publishing. On platforms like Wattpad, you can get away with a lot more than others.
I am fine with Wattpad and Radish. Nothing else is realistic for me. I still would love an editor. I dream about achieving immersive style.
Hang in there.
But also, don’t write off other media.
Audiobooks for example are a growing market, so I hear. I keep wondering if I would narrate it myself. I can’t escape my accent and I wonder if that would hurt my chances, but there are pretty cool services out there. Basically, you can get a deal with a narrator that you both get paid royalties so you wouldn’t have to dish out the money ahead of time.
I wish editing worked like that too.
Yeah, I can’t narrate myself, the narrators are super expensive. My kid says that you can use a VO. I assume that in a few years you can buy a pretty good one.
It’s a bit odd, but my kid is art only, though she has a better ear for music than I do and loves it. And I’m writing only.
Presently, I use word’s text to speech feature to listen to my stories when I edit seriously
it’s not that bad, tbh.
Overall though, I just like writing. My goal is that immersive style that some people have. That’s why i really wish I could write slower and edit more… only somehow something is always in the way, heh. ![]()
and it comes with the added bonus of hilarious butchered words and sounding out symbols!
