Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

I had to redo Project Bloodline in terms of story. I love the way I wanted it to go, but honestly, the first five pages were bothering me. I erased it to do better.

Yet I am still going with the overall gist of the story.

Igor is coming to Wattpad! Who’s excited!? This will be more of a slice of life and romance with some action thrown in.

I just edited thirteen chapters of draft two for Project Succession and enjoyed myself doing it.

I don’t even know who I am anymore…

:rofl::sweat_smile:

Finished a chapter of Project Bloodline, I really like writing in first person narrative. I will return to Project Chaos too soon enough, which is also in first person too.

I am still shocked by that.

Oof! Because of the editing of the second draft, I know that I can easily start the third draft early-mid January. Still, I need to do some better understanding of the plot and story, because Project Succession is going to be a series.

Yet because it is going to be a series, I am trying to figure out what the hell will even go on in books two and three.

Damn! I have so much thinking about what this story should offer me!

I did some outlining the other day, I just wanted to get into the groove of doing it. I am not done, though you are never truly done with outlining. You either add more or take off things you no longer need.

So, I just wanted to add a few more things, but push it to the side a bit, until I add something else or take away something.

Today, I just did a bunch of things that made me tied. I shall continue to outline tomorrow.

Decided to finish one more short story for the spider lady, even if it was waaaayy after the contest ended
I feel it gives closure to the mini arc established throughout the other stories

As for Azurean Shadows, still working on Chapter 13!

I haven’t done any actual writing in days because of being stressed out with how my life is going.

I find that I care greatly about Project Succession in terms of starting again.

I honestly don’t care for the projects that I was working on besides Project Succession. I want to do another novel series, just longer than Project Succession.

I am also not reading at all, unless it is manga or webcomics. I am still trying to get myself into motion.

So, I still want to wait on starting Project Succession, I just want to focus on another novel series.

Thinking of going with a male protagonist for this novel series.

The only writing I did was journal writing and jotting down some Alagossian species for the Lesser Kin, might add more than flesh it out, by riding some of them.

Far as actual novel writing, nothing has happened yet. I am distracted and far too lax to do anything really.

I started draft two of Project Succession.

Chapter 1, Part 1.

It feels more like first draft rather than a second draft instead.

Update: The idea for Project Succession, the newest one, I hate it with every fiber of my soul!

I am thinking about it because WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT AERIS IN A SCHOOL TYPE SETTING DOING SOMETHING I DON’T CARE ABOUT!?!?

I hated her as a Knight (sorta) and now I hate (much more) her as a student trying to get a medical degree. Why would she want that? I get Aeris cares, but she ain’t trying to save lives.

So, I need this story to feel fantastical in a futuristic yet magical setting where Aeris and everyone else of some importance shines.

I hate these ideas. Aeris needs to do something that I can actually SEE her character doing, being a surgeon is not that thing.

I am renaming Project Succession as and finally Project Guildmate. Now, I can see Aeris being a part of a guild in a similar vein of being a Knight.

If a character is eighteen, are they teenfic, young adult or both?

That is a such a tricky thing, given eighteen and nineteen year olds are technically teenagers, but they are of age to be considered adults.

I wish they made it for twenty years old adults instead of eighteen, since they are still teenagers, hence eightTEEN.

Language do be weird that way. LOL!

But young adult and teen fiction is exactly the same thing. It’s books for readers 13 to 18. ¯\_(ﭢ)_/¯

I hate this in a way.

The genre of YA should technically be ages 20 to 26, since they are legit YOUNG ADULT. While teen fiction should be 13 to 19, but the world doesn’t work that way and I am better off not sharing that opinion with the popular crowd.

Why is there two categories then? If they’re the same thing?

Aren’t they supposed to be synonymous with each other in a way?

I dunno! I’m not sure how or when the term YA came into existence. Used to be there was only juvenile, middle grade, teen fiction and adult. Where I live the library still classifies them that way! But in book stores there’s young adult, new adult, probably middle aged adult and elderly adult. And everyone in this town still thinks adult means smut. (>‿◠):v:

Finished Chapter 13 during this break, might reach the 30k word milestone before the year ends!

Edit: after checking word counts, I need less than 1k words to reach said goal, so it was actually much more attainable than I thought
