Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 2)

So you just want to add more external drama? Then yesh, a fight at a bar or a wedding is the way to go! (*^-‘) 乃

Figuring out how to do that.

Apparently my “feud” with a certain celebrity’s kid is making the rounds. It’s gonna be hilarious if I end up on a tabloid like Metro with the proper villain treatment. “A-lister’s kid behaving badly: gets in a scrap with mystery man!”

Getting on a tabloid by the end of the year is my only goal. Writing can wait.

Bar fights are senseless. Just have another party come step on your toews and all of a sudden you’ve got s broken bottle being shoved in your neck.

It’s interesting though

So, yeah, the gym that I applied to for job when I lost my usual income, just texted me wanting a job interview. I just need to set up a date of when I would like to go.

Oh my god. It has been so long, and I don’t know how to feel about it.

Nothing else to report.
If I get this job somehow, dear lord, I will be working again.

I am really tired, but I have two more chapters to free up tomorrow and Friday for watching figureskating and writing. I need to edit chapter for Friday and I need to do two more for Sat/Sun.

I was chatting about my NaNo-NaJa, and decided to try a prologue for it. Not sure if it will confuse people more or make things better, but yeah, I will give it a shot.

I’m eating a butter cookie :yum:

I decided in Wodeland there’s a strange occurrence (huh, I just used that word. New word trend for me.) of there being a lot of twins, but they all follow a pattern of yin and yang. Marcus has a twin brother, Gavius. Marcus has dark skin with white hair. Gavius has dark skin with black hair.

Bethany’s mom is also a twin. Henrietta has pale skin and black hair (transforms into a black rat with a white tail). Her sister has pale skin and white hair (transforms into a white rat with a dark brown tail).

Then there’s the cat-shifter Tar with pale skin and black hair, and his twin brother Scor who has pale skin and blond hair.

There is one more set of twins.

Perhaps…Bethany herself? It’s the long-lost twin trope. She didn’t know about it, of course.

Now, this is getting interesting. But I can’t get too complicated. I want to go fairytale-esque with this story in that not everything is explained and some things are meant to be left unanswered.

Taking a break from everything today. Overworking has caught up to me. Don’t plan to get up today unless the house literally burns down. Well… there’s an art exhibition later this afternoon so I’ll go there. And I did go down to the shop this morning.

Look how pretty it is!

Anyway, I took my antihistamines, had some water, and I’m doing some reading, maybe some writing…

I am up! Still have one chapter to read, but then it’s going to be editing.

I still have my reservations about prologue for NaNo. I really like having the MC on page 1, vs someone else. I like his opening line. On the other hand, clarity > above everything else. But will prologue achieve clarity?

I can understand your hesitation, as it does put someone else on the screen first so to say. But hopefully it would serve to frame the whole story in a clearer light.

I would try to write it out and see how it works, because if nothing else it might be good to have those events crystal clear in your own mind. And if you want someone to read it I volunteer!

Sometimes the suspension of disbelief is more supported by how the characters react to it. Why would someone who is used to everyone being twins bother to explain that everyone is twins? It takes outsiders to notice it.

Thank you, Lisa! I decided to write it, because I want to have it as background file, but I will keep it as reference. I think Max might have a longer internal monologue than Nick would have liked, but I would feel more comfortable that I spelled out in no uncertain terms that they are not on Earth and that Max is the protagonist, heh. From there, I will try pushing the theme. And if some can be trimmed back, I will trim it back.

I think I saw that news, actually :stuck_out_tongue:

All right, all reading done, editing, here I come… Then, then I need to do a quick groceries pick up, cook, go for a walk, watch figure skating and finish the damn chapter.

That’s it, guys, I decided once and for all that I can’t write good enough for other to read it, so I will only write my niche crap stories and be happy about it.

The displays are neat and everything’s laid out well but…

:open_mouth: Heartstoppermania is still going on?!

Ha yes. I was looking at stocks this morning… we might have ordered way too many lol. It’s our biggest seller really. If the kiddos love it then we’ll sell it :man_shrugging: lot’s of interest for the fifth volume already. It’s coming out February.

Maybe, lol. I still see those in Bargain Books when I got a look and Waterstones. And even frigging Asda :joy: It’s just still everywhere, and it’s probably not gonna die down anytime soon. It’s just the in thing at the moment. Heartstopper and Alice Oseman, to an extent.

Yeah, that’s a good business investment.

Definitely, I can see that happening. Just keep drumming up anticipation and sell some on launch day :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m reading The First To Die At The End (it came today) at the moment, and so far, I don’t think that the characters are as dynamic as Rufus and Mateo but we will see.

Yeah it’s mad. It’s the show that’s launched it to this crazy level. It’s all very “gateway gay”.

Fingers crossed for launch day🤞 We’re still waiting for our stock of Less is Lost by Andrew Sean Greer. It came out like two weeks ago.

Oh? I thought it was a prequel?
