Huh. Weird. Anyways, yeah, humans are strange indeed.

 nightmare.

Soooo I tried looking it up and apparently it’s the UV light that causes the brain to emit endorphins. Not the actual tanning, hehe. Tanning is just a side effect. But yes, sunbathing does feel nice.

speaking of sweeping in general :joy:

Exactly.

Edit: brain was totally not perking up and wanting to spew out info about how it happens xD

Hehe okay. So UV light has a very short wavelength, and the shorter the wavelength, the more it acts like a particle. (X-rays even more so) Because they’re that short, they can bombard the DNA in your cells and knock some of the electrons of the nucleotides off, changing the compound and the code that’s being read. That’s a mutation. If the mutation happens to affect part of the sequence for synthesising proteins that deletes the stop codon, welp, cancer. Unstoppable protein building. xDD

Oooh, I took ANA. We planned to take Cathay but we were too late because the tickets were either too expensive or fully booked. All I’m going to say is that I’m a bit shorter than Diego Schwartman but taller than the average Indonesian or Filipina woman :joy:

Whoa, really? I swear we always have coincidences. Technically we flew on the same day (my August 7 is your August 6) and now this? :joy:

Oh that’s sad. Well hopefully you’ll get to watch the ending someday  I remember I first watched Spirited Away in English with my cousins in the Philippines but didn’t finish. I’d only watch the ending years later, with my host sister in Japan.

Yeah, that was a long wait  hope you don’t have to wait as long :joy:

Ah, in Philippine Airlines they do that too! I find that so annoying because I want to know what I’m listening to

Usually I’d just go through their pop selection and see if they have anything by my favorite artists. If not, then I’d go to classical. Before I started compiling the classical playlists on my thread, I’d just play whatever piece. Now I specifically look for Chopin :joy:

Like what you said sometime ago, great minds think alike

Kidding kidding my mind is not great :joy:

I think that happened to me only once, but during my second flight I got two windows instead :sunglasses:

My hypothesis is that it’s cultural. People want what they don’t have. If you notice, the people who want to tan are usually white people or those who live in Western countries. In Asia, where a bunch of us are tan, we use whitening products :joy:

EDIT: oh no my mom can’t sleep either and I almost got caught using my phone :cold_sweat: I remember watching on YouTube how when you sleep at a new place for the first time, your body is alert just in case something happens or what? >.> I’m in an international chain hotel, I’m safe <.<

Oh Cathay is amazing. The best I’ve been on so far. It’s been a long while since I’ve taken it. Whattt, you’re so tall >.> :joy:

I know, it’s funny xD

Yep, hopefully. I watched parts of Spirited Away in a dentist’s office while I was waiting. And then watched the whole thing a few years later too. xD

Same! The information is necessary. :joy:

Understandable. Chopin is amazing. (Oh, did I mention I went to a Chopin concert last month? It’s enchanting hearing it play in the same room. But the people were breaking all the rules, which was annoying.)

Nonono, your mind is very great

Oh yes, I’ve had that happen as well. :joy: It’s awesome. But I’ve also been in a spot where I’m placed right in between two windows and only half of each is showing.

Oh, that was a rhetorical question, whoops  But yes, what you said is true. When I was young, my relatives always made it sound like white skin is nicer to have and that got into me. Then later when I was influenced by western culture at school, it was the opposite. Now I’m just like, I don’t even care anymore. xD

If you think Cathay is amazing, wait till you take Singapore Airlines. To this day it’s still my all-time favorite.

What really? How tall are you if you don’t mind :joy:

Another coincidence! :joy:

Oooh you went to a Chopin concert? Cool! I hope I get the chance. I’ve never been to a classical concert before, so it’s on my bucket list. I’ve only been to two concerts so far and they’re both pop

Thanks

Ahhh that’s so annoying! I hate it when that happens.

Ooooh my half-Dutch friend’s in a similar position. She’s really pale. In Indonesia people would say how much they want her skin color, but when she visits her relatives in the Netherlands they laugh at her and be like “Go get a tan” :joy:

I want to try it now. Must be terrific.

Ummm I’m only like 160 cm >.>

:raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

Yes, that was awesome! It was my first concert. xD It was more small-scale, though, but still great. I hope I can attend one of those grand, professional ones someday where the audience actually appreciates it and stays quiet and respectful :joy: (But really, there was this kid behind us that whispered, ‘he’s not that good’ during the concert. I was very irritated.)

Yeah, people are always like that

Skincolor meaning anything attrctive to a culture had to do with health and affluence. Just going with the European population, being tanned in winter is affluence to access summer level sunlight midwinter, and people who have been sick a while get really pale. It means less for those who have it naturally than those who have to work for it.

But this is a trend of affluence once we were no longer farmers. Being pale in a farming society means you’re rich enough to not have to break your back tilling a field. So, before “all the world” became indoor work, being pale was a status symbol of wealth.

Now we’re more post-industrial, where all the cultures are clashing over what is attractive.

Do so if you have the chance! But just a warning: the tickets are rather pricey :joy: it is considered a “luxury” airline, sort of. I’m only able to fly on it often because Singapore is a neighboring country, and we’d often fly SQ (that’s the code for Singapore Airlines) when we’d travel there.

I’ve never attended a classical concert before. The ones I went to were really loud and noisy. I think the next one I’ll go to will be a loud and noisy pop concert :joy: did anybody cough during the performance, though? I remember it’s a joke/meme that there’s always that one guy who coughs during a classical concert.

I’d be irritated as well

If you need me I’d be designing a terrible crest for Henebris :joy:

Oh, and speaking of planes, does anybody remember that poll I made about your favorite seat on a plane? Someone actually chose the middle seat :open_mouth:

Oof, figures. xD But I do have a friend who lives there. But he’s also coming to Canada (or at least planning to) after he graduates, so I can’t use that as an excuse to go there. :joy: I’ve always wanted to go to Singapore though.

Yep, that was a new experience for me as well. I’ve wanted to go to a noisy type of concert too and feel that atmosphere, but I’ve never gotten the chance. Do people sing along? Argh, yes, they did cough. And people even took off their masks even though they told us to keep them on the whole time. They suck at following instructions. There were a few specific rules they told us to follow, and people ended up breaking every one of them. Turning phones to silent – my dad had his alarm ringing in the middle! >.< No flash – someone uses flash when videoing. No talking, but those kids behind us kept jabbering away. No standing up in seats, and this man just got up and paced around. Tsk, tsk. :joy:

Exactly :triumph:

Oh yes, that. Does the design have to be based on the Tenebris crests? What if someone just randomly scribbles an ugly thing? xD I mean, some level of quality is expected, surely…? Or is it actually just as ugly as possible? I suck at designing so maybe that’s perfect. :joy: I hope ugly colour clashes are allowed.

Whaaaa :scream: The middle is the worst :joy:
