I know right? I was hoping she’d win the gold because the Olympics were being held in Japan, her home country, but looks like that didn’t go to plan >.>

Everyone has to see it  it’s weird how he’s the World No. 2 but he’s not the most popular out of the next gen. My dad says it’s because he’s not as “marketable” and I have to agree a little

People were saying that it’d be a lineswoman, because that’s exactly what happened last year. But now they’ve switched to automatic line calling :joy: I have a feeling a next gen would suddenly stop him. Like in the Olympics, he’d ride a wave of confidence before he gets stunned.

me when I was still in Asia ;-;

You really didn’t have to, but thanks XD

This thing called “basic kinematic equation.” I don’t know how to explain it, but you use it to find the velocity and acceleration of a particle. I won’t bother going into detail; my head spins at the mere thought of it :joy:

Same here. I predict mostly according to rankings and head-to-head, and I like seeing my predictions become true.

The prediction I was not expecting to come true (but did to my delight) was Rafa losing at RG  and I made it months before the tournament started :exploding_head:

Yeah, that’s what I noticed too. I guess that makes them really fast, and then having the smallest target area probably also helps them with being more cautious/precise. I remember there was one time a foilist competed in a team sabre competition. The comments were full of sabreurs feeling ashamed, because the foilist turned out to be really good :joy:

I legit thought the iCarly scene was so good. And then I revisited it ten years later and I was like “how the hell did I see this as good?” there were just so many things wrong with it, but pre-teen me just didn’t notice them :woman_facepalming:

Speaking of first person being used well, I discovered a new author on Wattpad whose works I really enjoy. Her short stories are mostly in first person, and they’re really good. They’re also really unpopular (like, none of them have cracked 35 reads, and most of them are hovering at around 10–15?) and they deserve more views :triumph: Check out @/iiingriiidd__

And yes, Twilight sucked. I can’t believe people actually enjoyed reading it. I can’t believe moms enjoyed reading it. That’s why I plan to introduce my future kids to quality literature from a young age. They’ll be less likely to enjoy trash after reading something good.

Third person present? Interesting. I never really liked present tense in a POV :joy: not that I’m not open to it, I have partially used it towards the end of one of my short stories, but present tense always feels “incorrect” to me. Maybe it’s because we’ve always been taught to write in past tense. Even my first person is in past tense.

Have you ever read a story in third person present? :eyes:

Oh no, now you’re tempting me to write something in third person present :joy: I gotta check online if it’s “correct” though, because I’m scared that I might not pull it off if I try :grimacing:

EDIT: just did a little searching. Apparently, third person present might be hard to read because it doesn’t feel as natural  although there were a few books that were published in third person present. I think I’ll just stick to past tense for now

Speaking of omniscient, I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. “Think” is the keyword here :joy: there’s like third person omniscient objective, then third person cinematic, and third person omniscient subjective narrator…

I’m just trying to not head-hop and make for a “strong” narrator, because I heard that that’s one reason why omniscient is distinct. The narrator isn’t a character but has their own distinct voice. I’m still trying to find mine. I’m not sure if I’ve ever written with a strong author voice before, and now I’m trying to write in omniscient… what have I done :joy: me, the writer with the weak author voice, is trying omniscient

Thanks! I catch them quickly sometimes, but some errors take a year for me to catch (even though they were simple) :woman_facepalming: when I was rereading Book One just for fun, I realized I used “are” instead of “were” :woman_facepalming:

My genre of choice is typically mystery/thrillers as well. :joy: It does sound like a enjoyable read so far, especially with the mafia cases tied in. All this while I’ve only found severely inaccurate mafia romances. :weary:

Yes it is! I have 100+ books in my wardrobe and still not enough space lmaoo neither do I have the time to read them anytime soon but we’ll pretend I do xD

Beyond Dark is such an intriguing name! For some reason it reminded me of The After from Insidious. :joy: And wow, 15 books? :eyes: That’s a lot, I think I’ll get a whole new shelf for them! Ah well, the longer the better xD Just means more of a character to simp over lol

I don’t do romance  I include as a subplot in some places throughout the series, but that’s for the MCs, not the mobsters. I dislike those mafia romances too. You can tell how little research the writer did. Meanwhile, I have an entire book shelf dedicated to mafia books and more on my ereader. And let’s not talk about the podcasts, documentaries and articles I’ve consumed in keeping up. :eyes: The mafia subplot also ties into the background of one of my MCs, hence why it’s also included.

I feel this. I read maybe a book a month? Between working full time, writing, book marketing and otherwise, I just don’t have time to read as much as I want but I aim for one a month to at least have a review to post to my blog. I’ve been reading ebooks more recently since they take up less space (but my heart belongs to paperbacks).

It was a temporary title to start but it stuck, so here we are  15 to start, we’ll see how it all plays out. My MC, Alyssa, has a detailed background and storyline to play out. Lots of character development to go through. I am also a sucker for long series, being able to stay with a beloved character for longer

i agree with everything here xD and wow, an entire bookshelf? and all that extra material :eyes: :joy: so dedicated

I’m glad it stuck! :joy: Character development is fun xD honestly thought your MC was male at first lmao And yes, we love staying with the characters :joy:

Sup?

I love the topic! That’s really what it is. Most of my home library is true crime. I love topics of serial killers, criminal psychology, mafias, organized crime, etc. Heck, I spent WEEKS looking for ONE DVD I could no longer find streaming online, only to order it from some obscure site, and waited another month for it to arrive - because it was the only detailed documentary on an international jewel thief group I was researching for my undercover spinoff.

Character development is one of my favourite things. I have two MCs. Alyssa is the primary MC and she has her cop partner, Thayer, my male MC. He’s a rookie. They’re a hilarious pair lol

Not much, deary, how are you?

Sounds like fun. I am working on my crossover book. Main series crosses with my undercover spinoff. It’s a fun time.

That sounds fun too. Is it going smooth?

Started off with some difficulty in figuring out which character POVs would go in this one vs the spinoff version, and how to tie the two cases together, but I think I’ve got it. it will need plenty of rewriting after but that’s okay.

First drafts are always the most fun.

They are! It’s where the skeleton of the story is created. This is the book where Morgan comes into the story :eyes:
