All good, I do the same. Not too bad, just waking up from a nap, slept off a headache. Ugh. How are you?
Same. There’s a difference between reading it and actually seeing it, because personally for me watching a movie is more immersive. Reminds me of how in Book One, Stella (not me, but my character) was scarred because she saw a reenactment of Brandon’s death
it’s even worse because it was way more immersive than a movie. It was as if she was actually there when he died.
Oh yeah, the crowd differs from place to place. I remember during Roger’s match in Geneva, there were only about a hundred people around. When Roger scored a point they all cheered, but when his opponent got the point he only got polite clapping ![]()
Oh no, the umpire would try to hush them like babies. It’s also the umpire’s job to get the crowd to behave. They say stuff like
“Thank you.” (yes, they literally say just that and the crowd is expected to hush)
“Ladies and gentlemen, as a courtesy to both players, please be quiet.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, please maintain respect to both players.”
It’s not just the rowdiness of the USO crowd that earns them their bad reputation, but how they react to different events too. Look at what they did during Naomi Osaka’s final against Serena during the 2018 USO. They booed during the trophy ceremony. Sure, it wasn’t directed at her for winning (Serena’s American and the GOAT so she’s obviously the crowd favorite) but it was still incredibly terrible of them to boo during her trophy ceremony. They gave her depression. No joke. She actually got depression after that.
Not to mention that time during the 2019 USO when Djokovic had to retire during his match against Stan Wawrinka. I mean, this guy was the World No. 1, all-time legend, defending champion, struggling with injury before the tournament commenced, but when he went to Stan to congratulate him and then retired, he was booed and jeered off the court. I was furious. How dare a player prioritize his well being and not give them entertainment like what they paid for >.> the crowd was lambasted in the media for their downright despicable behavior. You won’t see that at any other grand slam. Wimbledon. Australian Open. Even the “rude” French crowd at RG didn’t boo a player for retiring from a match. You know what they do instead? Clap and cheer politely, because that’s what a real tennis fan does.
Which is exactly why I started cheering for Medvedev after he gave them the sneakiest middle finger and rubbed his victory in their faces
sure, what he did was bad, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend
he’s the only “villain” I root for because that’s how much I hate what the crowd did ![]()
Now we just need two people with names starting with D and L and it’ll be complete ![]()
So we got Arden the teacher and E the student. Arden the Dragonologist seems way friendlier and more approachable than my Arden, though.
It’s okay, no pressure to check it out. You’ve already read the unedited version on my personal thread so you’re not missing anything ![]()
I love notifications
I make sure I look through all of them so that I don’t accidentally miss anything. Maybe it’s because I’m not used to having a lot of notifications, so when I see a flood of them it just makes my day.
is that why you didn’t reply to this?
![]()
Same here. Was so happy to have so much writing time with those three-month holidays, but then my summer course came >.>
Just had breakfast. Oof, headaches are the worst. Natural oils typically help when I’m having one, have you tried those?
I woke up earlier and my left eye keeps tearing up — hurts like hell to blink for some reason and I can barely open it. I don’t even know why. It’s been happening a lot over the past month or so now.
I haven’t, I don’t get headaches that often.
ohh oki — I have them nearly every other day so my mom got me Migragone xD
I get headaches after naps tho
Ah okay. I usually just sleep when I have headaches, it’s usually my body telling me I need sleep.
Yeah, seeing it and experiencing it has way more of an effect. ![]()
Yeah, I’ve heard that type of clapping before.
Do they, though?
Oh yikes, this crowd ![]()
That’s awful! Poor her. ![]()
Wow, they really are monstrous. That’s just selfish. Well, they deserved that bashing.
Oh, yeah, that was hilarious
They had it coming, though.
I mean, there used to be Luca…
Hmm, probably. I don’t know too much about the Dragonologist yet, though.
That used to be how I thought, too, but after a while it’s gotten a bit draining.
I mean, it still feels nice to see a bunch of unreads to click through, but it’s sort of tiring to look through. xD
How did I miss that--
Eek, I probably miss some notifications here and there all the time.
![]()
Would you like me to respond now?
![]()
Oof. What course is it?
Yup, they do. It works most of the time.
I know right? That’s why I supported her when she chose to withdraw to focus on her mental health. I miss her playing, honestly. I was hoping she’d get gold in the Olympics.
Yup, they do. Some say it’s because the USO attracts a lot of tourists so they can get a bit uncultured, but even then, Wimbledon has a bunch of tourists too. They also don’t seem to be as educated on the rules as the crowds of the other grand slams. I remember one commentator talking about the French crowd during RG this year, calling them passionate yet educated, especially when rooting for a countryman or countrywoman. They can get biased but they’re still “polite”
Oh it was. I showed my dad and my bro the infamous post-match interview recently (I still can’t believe they hadn’t seen it before I showed them) and they were laughing hard. He’s a savage
the crowds will be returning for this year’s USO, so I’m excited to see if he’ll be the villain again or continue being a good boy ![]()
Oh, and Stan withdrew from the USO ;-; Djokovic must be really happy. For some reason, Stan always manages to stop him in slams. The only time Djokovic beat Stan in a slam was during their first slam encounter, during the AO. Stan has beaten him in grand slams ever since, including two finals
Stan, I need you to stop Djokovic from breaking the slam record! ;-;
And there used to be Dragadon…
Have you read the replies in the Courtyard? That’s where we got to know him more. Oh, and Wisp has a sibling that’s really into coffee!
If you want you can, but if you don’t want to it’s also fine
it’s up to you. although I’d like to hear your thoughts
But, like, we’ve already moved onto other things ![]()
Aeromechanics
I swear the only thing that pulled me through were dimensions, vectors, and forces. Everything else was a pain :')
Look who’s back. Are we shocked?
Oh hello there, Johnny boy
ohhh I see
can’t really relate xD
That’s fair, lol. My mental illnesses like to mess up my sleep schedule, and this last week has kicked me right down, so I wasn’t sleeping much at all. So today my body just sort of revolted and said “NO, today, we SLEEP!”. Fiiiiiiinnnneeeeee
Yes, she’s amazing. Ah yeah, I was thinking she would. It would’ve been great if she did. She deserves it.
Okay yes, I’m curious about that myself
I’ll have to see it.
who knows, perhaps there will be someone else that stops him ![]()
True, though it was really Raza’s hologram I think.
I just went and read them. And yeah, that did reveal a bit more. xD I like this dragonologist, he gets all excited over his favourite topic. Ahhh, I know, I can’t wait to see her sibling!!! why do interesting things always happen in the ARG when I’m busy? ;-;
Hmm okay, I’ll go and read it over again. xD
Ooooh. That sounds kind of interesting. Vectors were my classmates’ nightmare.
I kind of liked them though. What’s involved in this ‘everything else’?
That’s always an advantage. The bad thing is when other people also don’t like the same thing, so you’re stuck. xD
Yes, exactly my thoughts.
I sometimes have a weird preference for seeing things go according to the rankings >.>
That must’ve been an interesting match. And oh yes, she was quite a legend. ![]()
Yup. Oh yeah there is a lot of foot action. They always drive each other to the ends. xD And they seem to get ‘tangled’ more than the others. They’d rush too far past and get their swords stuck and try to pull back to stab at a weird angle.
Ohh, that reminds me of so many awful fencing scenes in different movies and things. I was cringing. They always involve way too much swinging and random slicing and ATROCIOUS footwork
Oh my goodness. So yes, I was very glad when I saw that you did your research. xD Yup, it seems like some of it just relies on luck, haha.
It’s the same with me! Exactly the same
I don’t really read on wattpad that much, but I have seen first person used in some terrible books before too (I KNOW, TWILIGHT SUCKED, EVERYONE WAS SO ANNOYING and nobody would actually act the way they do). Plus, there’s a tendency to put way too many annoying character thoughts in there with first person. But the POV can be very effective if used well. From when I was a kid, third person has stuck with me more though. I used to love third person past because that was natural. But now third person present has a very alluring touch for me, for some reason. xD Combined with omniscient. That could make for a very powerful piece.
Oh, don’t worry about that, everybody makes errors all the time. And you’re very diligent too so you’d probably catch them. xD
oof, I hope you’re feeling a little better now! ![]()
I’m not much of a healthy sleeper myself, I get by on two-three hours of sleep
ah yes, when the body takes control everything else is forgotten ![]()
I am feeling better now, thank you. I’ve been awake, had food, water, coffee and some medicine. Going to write for a bit. Seems as I’ll be up all night anyway, since I slept all day ![]()
Exactly
You can only defy your body’s basic needs for so long until it demands it.
Awesome!
Good luck with your writing then! What are you working on, if you don’t mind me asking? ![]()
so truee ![]()
I am writing a mystery series currently about a criminal profiler who specializes in female serial killers. I self-published the first book last year. Book 2 is in editing stages and I am 11 chapters in the first draft of book 3. I have a spinoff in first drafts as well, and another planned.
Sounds really cool! ![]()
there goes the thought of reading it on Wattpad
I might just buy it tho
if I can convince my parents to build/buy another bookcase xD
How many books is the series going to have in total?
when the thread has two different streams of conversation going on
Thank you! I have been a true crime junkie for years. So that helps. The primary focus is female serial killers, but there are a few mafia/organized crime cases that get tossed in, as one of the spinoffs focuses on mafia stuff later on. It ties into the timeline of it all.
I am no longer on Wattpad anyway lol It is available at most retailers online, eBook and paperback. I get it. I just reorganized my whole living room and all of my books and am still basically out of bookshelf space. I even hung another shelf up on the wall. The struggle is real ![]()
I don’t know yet, honestly. The main series, Beyond Dark, will have around 15 books, maybe more, depending on how the storyline and my MC’s character arc play out. The first spinoff, about undercover cops, has three books, it might have four after editing, I haven’t decided yet. The other spinoff, focusing on an organized crime task force, I haven’t planned much yet so I am not sure how long it will be.
