Same here. I understand that completely.
I can go from vampires to drag queens to Ricky in the drop of a hat.
I know. Kind of disappointing. xD Ohh, people
![]()
Oh wow
I kind of have that feeling too. Huh. I canโt wait to find out. xD
me wherever in the world I am >.>
Ohhh. I think Iโve heard of that before, it sounds familiar.
Iโm trying to recall what Iโve heard but I forget ![]()
For sure. xD
Oh, niice. ![]()
Wow. Impressive. xD
Ah, thatโs us when we get exposed to lower quality things first.
Oh yesss, I did read a couple of her stories and I was stunned. Itโs amazing. She used second person so perfectly. Iโm definitely planning to read more of her stories later.
Now thatโs a good way of doing things.
Good for you. xD As for me, I donโt think Iโll ever have kids, haha.
Okay, yes, I remember that was my view on it as well when I was younger! I was like, huh, it feels wrong and itโs so easy to mess up. It almost could feel childish if youโre not used to it. But if itโs done right, it really changes your perspective. I think I started to appreciate it more when our science teachers had us write lab reports (since, you know, the standard is to write in present tense) and I developed my present tense skills. And itโs definitely hard to master since a lot of the forms donโt exactly work and you have to think of a way around it. But I slowly got better and I loved the moments where I got to use my creative genius to figure out a way that didnโt sound weird
And I tried using it in stories, and combined with the style, I found that it had such a great effect. Itโs awesome. But it depends on the story. Figuring out which POV to use is always a fun puzzle. Certain ones enhance it more. Really depends on the style and mood. I find that it works best with more poetic or formal styles.
Oh yes, I have. Ahem, The Island of the World.
Thereโs a reason I adore that book so much, you know. xD But if you read it, youโll know exactly what Iโm talking about.
Have you?
Haha! Yeah, writing in that tense is a harder feat. Itโs a challenge, but Iโve seen really good results come out of it, thatโs why I love it so much. And I like challenges. xD But trust me, there are ways to make it natural.
You should attempt it if you ever feel like it. Maybe as practice. IT WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL FOR DESCRIPTIVE PIECES THOUGH!!! And youโre great at those! ![]()
Okay, I donโt even remember if I learned all of these. xD I remember objective, yes. I think. Seriously, grammar classes were such a long time ago.
Ah yes. Thatโs kind of what I like about it too hehe. See, this is why I think third person omniscient in present tense would make for a powerful piece. xD Hmm, I feel like your voice actually comes out more in the descriptive pieces. Also, try doing prose poetry for practice. I feel like that would help develop it. Yes, that combination would definitely work. Youโre good at those. Play to your strengths. xD
Oh yeah I had a bunch of those in my older works. And I mean, I even see typos and grammar errors in published books, which are supposed to have editors, so itโs not a rare thing to occur. ![]()
The best way to be
Yeah, of course lol. I am laughing at how random I am.
Forever keeping things interesting lol I have a cat currently trying to steal my toast, if weโre being random
LOL is a fat cat?
Not even, she just loves food
I tried Googling it. Trust me, Iโm pretty sure itโs not what you have in mind
even during the lecture, my instructor said itโs not taught at all universities.
Oh yeah, I remember that. Present tense, third person, and passive voice.
Never heard of it until you mentioned it
Iโll see if itโs free somewhere
until I get a job, which will be like three years from now, I donโt think Iโll be able to buy books that arenโt for school :โ)
The authorโs name is Michael, right?
EDIT: it ainโt free ;-; I guess Iโll just put off reading third person present. Iโll just stick to third person past. Itโs my thing
Iโve been wired to read and write in third person past ![]()
Thanks for saying Iโm great at descriptive! ![]()
Okay, Iโll try it just once, and maybe a few years from now after all my other projects are done
I still need to improve my third person past
sometimes itโs decent, other times I reread my stuff and I go like โyeah I was very obviously stuck or in a rushโ ![]()
Oh, does it? I never noticed. What does my โvoiceโ sound like? ![]()
Oh Iโve looked up prose poetry, and I was intimidated. I canโt even handle โregularโ poetry, Iโm still working on prose, and combining the two together?
recipe for disaster
I canโt even write a sonnet. Iโm still stuck on it. Itโs the iambic pentameter
I can do the pentameter but not the iambic. I mean, I get what they mean by iambic, but how do you determine whether a certain syllable is stressed? Itโs hard enough to find rhymes, and now I have to focus on syllables and their stresses ![]()
Maybe I will once I finish my current poetry collection and its sequel (yes, I have a sequel collection planned
) and another planned collection of sonnets. After Iโm comfortable with poetry, then Iโll tackle prose poetry.
but then again, my brain has a penchant for wanting to write things that I want to put off >.> why else am I working on BWT instead of Book Three? ![]()
Churro cat lol me too.
Basically
eats everything
She would if I let her
I would hide food from her
At times I have to lol
Shame her
Canโt shame a cat that has no shame. She does not care
Make her care
Good luck with that
Will she do this to me?
