Haha that’s wild. I’ve known about her for a while because I remember when “Can’t Blame a Girl For Trying” came out lol but I couldn’t remember her name to find it for the longest time and since she’s been hitting it big time lately I was like hey it’s her. Wild. Really liking her new stuff lately.
Mhm! Yeah I remember really liking her character on the show and when she came out with that first single, I liked it too and I was also like ‘oh she sings more than just the theme song’ XD But yeah. I actually prolly like her old stuff better, back when she was- let’s say an innocent bean lol. But her most recent album was definitely really good. I have her albums up to Singular Act 1 as CDs, still need SA Act 2 and now emails I can’t send. Plus, Lindsey Stirling featured her and that was crazy too!
I need to listen through her stuff a bit more to see what I think, but I thing her music now sounds really smooth. I never watched her in anything though, I knew she did some acting but I didn’t know what and I feel like it might not be my thing now but idk
Her older music was more pure, I’d say. Kinda country-singer-songwriter-sounding esp in her first album. EVOLution is kinda more poppy, and SA1 definitely is, but with a lil more sass and preview into her future music sound. SA2 is pretty much just a continuation of that transitioning into Emails which is pretty personal. Granted, the first 2 albums were while she was still tied to Disney, so most of them weren’t even written by her, until SA1. There are a couple of inbtwn songs that I think are worth mentioning though- Smoke and Fire, and Why are really good but somehow didn’t make it onto any albums Oh! Also her song Rescue Me from the Teen Beach 2 movie on DC (which I love)
As for her acting, yeah so Girl Meets World is where I first saw her on Disney Channel, and she sang the theme with her co-star, Rowan Blanchard, who I had learned were also bffs irl ^u^ Then she sang the theme for Andi Mack, so that was cool too. She was in a remake of Adventures in Babysitting on DC with Sofia Carson, who is mainly known from the Descendants trilogy on DC (which I also love lol), but also from that movie and ofc now, Songbirds and Purple Hearts which I haven’t seen yet sadly.
Getting back to Sabby though, the only other thing I saw her in was The Hate U Give, where she was pretty racist so that was an interesting role tbh. I know she was in Work It on Netflix too, but I also haven’t seen it yet. From what I know though, she’s at least very good at acting so Idk if that would affect whether you like her projects or not but yeah.
Ig her older music could be viewed as not as polished or less original, but I thought it was still very pleasant at least to listen to, just very wholesome for the most part. Not that her new music isn’t pleasant, but it’s just a very different sound than before. I like both versions of her, but I tend to favor her older stuff, Ig mainly bc of nostalgia lol.
Good to know.
Ah, I never watched the disney channel growing up so it makes sense I didn’t know that stuff lol. But from the vibe I feel like I wouldn’t be drawn to what she’s acted in. I’m sure she’s great in them though.
Lol sorry for all that XD
Yeah that does make sense. THUG is definitely her most serious role, and outside of Disney, so Idk if you’d be more interested in that movie than her other stuff. The movie itself is really good.
I heard of it as a book first, right? I still don’t think I would watch it though, I’ve not been interested in it even before I knew she was one of the actors in it.
Yeah I think it was a bk first. Oh ok, that’s fine then.
What kinds of movies are you into?
Hm, I quite like action movies, or old movies. The last few movies I’ve been watching and enjoying were The Expendables and The Godfather trilogy. I also like emotional movies, if they’re done right. Heartfelt ones, you know? Or true stories, like mysteries and crime lmao. I like comedy movies but for them to actually be funny and not forced and a bit irritating in their predictably can be hit and miss these days, so I prefer older movies like the original Ghostbusters or something like that. I’m also pretty open on what films I like, same as what I’ll listen to in music — it’s not the genre, but how it’s done and who is acting in it.
What about you?
Oh ok interesting! I like a lot of older movies and tv shows. I haven’t seen those yet though, I know I prolly should XD Yeah I agree, some emotional movies are good. Comedy can definitely be a hit or miss lol, but I think it also depends on what kind of comedy you’re into. I personally really love dumb comedy, so SNL is hilarious to me. I love watching stand-up comedians, like Preacher Lawson or Iliza Schlesinger, although I haven’t watched enough of them yet. I just like watching comedy when it’s on and I tend to like a lot of sit-coms as I’ve learned lol.
Tbh, my favorite genre is horror/paranormal-type stuff. Or thrillers. I don’t mind comedic horror as long as it’s not too gory. Final Destination is my favorite horror movie series lol. But I love older and newer ones, like ones with Vincent Price are really great. I love House of Wax and The Pit and the Pendulum. I also love dystopian and a lil fantasy stuff, in bks and movies. I’m not super into romance, unless it’s a subplot, then I heavily ship people lol, but I’m not into most rom-coms or definitely steamy ones. I admittedly love reading a lot of shipping fanfics though XD mainly queer ones tbh. Also I actually love getting sucked into Hallmark cheesy romance movies XD those are like the only rom-com-adjacent movies I usually watch.
I’m just not super into action tbh. Unless it’s a natural disaster movie, I have a lot of faves in that category tbh. But as for like general ones like Fast and the Furious, I’ve just never been that into them, Idk. Like I’ll get into it sometimes if I watch for long enough, but it’s not my go-to.
I haven’t seen a lot of SNL but from what I have seen I don’t find it funny. I like dry / black sarcastic or cringe comedy personally. I prefer British comedians more for that kind of comedy, I find a lot of mainstream American comedy is a little bit fake and canned for me lol.
I like horror and paranormal too but again, I feel like I couldn’t watch anything in that genre. I also don’t like it too gory or goofy, unless it’s done in a way that works. I do like to be a little jump-scared or tense though. I don’t get scared with zombie movies but I do love to watch them, even of they’re bad lol. I’m the same with romance too, unless there is a certain story I think sounds like an interesting concept (or it’s a worthy subplot) then I’m not a big fan outside of the Christmas Hallmark movies just because I like the holiday time fun of them! I also like fanfic, I think the creativity of some of them can be really amazing sometimes.
Oh ok! If you like sarcasm, maybe you’d like Joel McHale? I personally find him hilarious. I like dark or sarcastic humor too, I forgot to add. I just thought of everything else first lol. But yeah Joel is one of my faves in term of that. Kinda like Chandler on Friends too. Ig I can see though how British comedians do it better for the most part XD
Ok so what are some movies in horror/paranormal that you like? And yeah exactly, the holiday ones are definitely fun. Though I saw this one movie series on there that wasn’t for a specific holiday, just centered around a wedding veil. (literally the movies all have that in the title) And I ended up loving it for some reason XD There are 6 in total, all featuring 3 girlfriends who end up using the wedding veil to attain a guy lol, but the last 3 are sequels so they’re already w/ that guy, but now some event is happening that they have to prepare for, etc.
Yknow, if you like Hallmark and a lil paranormal, maybe you’d like this show that started on Hallmark called The Way Home. It has time travel and some darker themes, but still hints of romance bc it’s Hallmark, but tbh, I don’t find it super cheesy like the other things on the channel. It’s currently going on its third season next March and I’m super excited-
Where do you primarily read fanfics? I’ve seen good ones on Quotev, AO3, and Wattpad (a long time ago). Rn I’ve been super into a few authors on AO3 doing bandfics with Set It Off and with Waterparks (mainly Waterparks lol).
Yeah that kind of comedy is fun to me. I’ll have to look him up and see if I like him at some point because I’ve never heard of him.
Hm. I liked Hostel, but that one is pretty gory iirc. I also liked the original Halloween movie. Signs is a good alien movie too. Or the classic movie Alien, which wasn’t as scary as I imagined it would be for some reason I actually found it funny in some places, but I liked it.
I’ve not heard of that series. I don’t have the Hallmark channel or anything though, where I live there is just a channel that plays christmas Hallmark movies around November I think, so I only really watch what gets played every year. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re super cheesy.
If I am in the mood to see if something has fanfic I personally go to ao3 these days, though it took me a hot minute to get used to the layout. Before that, back in the day, I was a fanfiction.net reader haha. Wattpad fanfic seems a little… silly and like it’s written by younger people that I don’t find enjoyable? Not awful but a little bit childish at times, but I don’t want to generalise. I just feel like I’d have to search for the good stuff, also I have seen a few writers from other platforms get their writing stolen on there. I’ve never used Quotev for fanfic, it just doesn’t feel right to me for some reason haha. I don’t mind tumblr for some fanfic too.
