I should have grown up on Lost Boys. My hubby did.
I also remember the original Teen Wolf. And the cartoon series.

I would have never known it had gotten a cartoon unless I was browsing through cartoon piracy sites back in the day.
@JojoDahlia This image will haunt you for a while
Of course it wasn’t the first. But you can’t deny the power it has/had on genre and publishing in general. To say Twilight is all bad is reductive.
Lol wth
Without Twilight, we wouldn’t have gotten 365 Days, though.
Complaints are an acknowledgement of power. If there was none, we’d be unaware of the thing altogether. lol
That’s one way to look at it I suppose.
Well I’ll say what I’ve always maintained: women deserve soft core pornos on Netflix too
It’s also an occasional measure of who controls your life.
That’s such a cool art style
Do you know who did the art?
Idk if I’ll ever read Gideon the Ninth because of how expensive the books are right now and it’s a series, and idk if I can invest in a series any time soon…or ever. Idk how interested I am either.
I think that if you look up who did the album cover art for Powerwolf, you’ll find them.
Why is Colleen Hoover so popular?
" After a few months, Slammed was reviewed and given five stars by book blogger Maryse Black,[15] and afterward, sales rapidly rocketed for Hoover’s first two books.[11][16] "
The right person liked it, and she went viral.
Her biggest work, though, mostly gained it’s traction due to addressing a public issue on a fairly personal level.
I see…
I wonder if Slammed is better than the other ones? I haven’t even heard of that book from her.
It’s the first book she made it with. So, it may be iconic of what she can’t get back to?
This is how it breaks down:
Year | Award | Work | Category | Result | Ref |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2012 | Goodreads Choice Awards | Slammed | Young Adult Fiction | Nominated | [40] |
2013 | Goodreads Choice Awards | Losing Hope | Romance | Nominated | [41] |
2013 | Goodreads Choice Awards | This Girl | Romance | Nominated | [41] |
2014 | UtopYA Con Awards | Maybe Someday | Most Innovative Marketing | Won | [42] |
2015 | Goodreads Choice Awards | Confess | Romance | Won | [43] |
2016 | Goodreads Choice Awards | It Ends with Us | Romance | Won |
Slammed was YA, if you’ve read romance and hated it, it may be different.
I went to Amazon to check it out.
I didn’t know Layken was a real name for actual people.
Layken – meaning, origin, pronunciation & popularity.
invented.
But names are combined like this over time, so it’s not that unusual.
I’d have just named her Layla Kennedy, and made the nickname Layken.
I’ve read half the series so far and I don’t really get a twilight vibe. Twilight has vampires and werewolves, whereas Crave explores so many other creatures. I also love the academy setting. I don’t know, maybe I’m biased. But I’ve really enjoyed the books. Plus the love triangle, as far as I know, it’s not Twilight’s. That’s certain.
Don’t. Please, don’t. I’ve read The Cellar and it was awful. I hate her boyfriend’s POV, HATE the killer’s POV, the chapters feel repetitive, there’s a gross scene of a 16yo boy lusting after a 13yo MC. And for 8 months of captivity, the MC wasn’t giving into what the killer wanted her to do, but then for “plot’s” sake, the last few chapters she is suddenly brainwashed. There is not a gradual buildup to this. It’s a jump from resistance to compliance. I also read The Lost, and I loved the premise but the twist was too predictable. The author gave it away the second she brought the “character” in.
I haven’t either. Wizard fantasy just doesn’t interest me.
Anything by Jennifer L Armetrout, SJM… yeah, I just won’t pick up books like these cause I’ve heard they’re spicy and it’s not my taste. Too many bad reviews that also tell me I wouldn’t enjoy the worldbuilding.
