I’ve not read the HP series. Not adverse to it, but I read adult fantasy, so never really picked up on kid’s stuff.

Yeah, im into more YA/NA fantasy romance. And HP doesnt fit that. Neither does LOTR. So i dont read those kinds of fantasy books.

It depends on how you would translate Seinen(male demographic, 17+) for the Western book market.

I think Seinen translates to NA in the west. it does specify 17 plus. The cut-off for YA is 18. I guess you could argue that Seinen could fit into that 2 year overlap and be YA, but if I’m not mistaken that genre tends to lean into having a more “mature” audience so it’s more reasonable to consider it NA.
