What's the last thing you've read or watched?

Whether it’s a novel (stand alone or a series), manga, comic, nonfiction, webcomic, a television series, film, anime, and/or animation, what was the last thing you’ve read or watched?

or you can just tell me what you are currently reading or watching or even both?

How did you like what you read or watched? You can answer for one or the other, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER BOTH IF YOU DON’T WANT TO!!!

I’m in the middle of @MiniMoxx En Pointe, which is a 20K Novella for ONC this year. I also read a short story about a prince turned pirate and the seer he loves. Both are cute.

The last book I read was The Ladies of Grace Adieu by Susanna Clarke. I’ve now read all of her major published works, which is great and most definitely worth reading. It’s a short story collection—fairy stories—set in the world of her other book (magnum opus) Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I loved it, and the audiobook narration is so charming! I wanna curl up with a blanket and a mug of chocolate and listen to it.

Currently reading Troll: A Love Story by Johanna Sinisalo. It’s queer (as in gay) in the best way and boundary-pushing. There’s very little that shocks me, but today as I was reading I clutched my pearls. I’m loving it. Also on my reading shelf atm The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett* and Cursed Bread by Sophie Mackintosh. So many good books!

The last movie I watched was The Nature of Love. It’s a Canadian romantic comedy about an academic having an affair with her carpenter. It was funny, intellectual, looks at class differences and prejudices. Also hot guy. And it’s in French—those French-Canadians. I’ve got a long-delayed movie night w my partner this week which I’m excited for. We’ll be watching Anora.

How is you TBR and TBW list looking?

TBR is a mess. Not too many physical books, which is manageable. But the library reading list is like 500 titles. I’ll never read it all lol.

TBW… I dunno not much. I’m deffo seeing Mickey 17 and Superman in the cinema. As for shows, I’ll watch The Wheel of Time Season 3 when it comes out—I have an early fan screening for that one so can’t miss it. And White Lotus Season 3. Need to do a full series binge for My Brilliant Friend. I also need to use my Mubi subscription a lot more, and there’s a cool film club in my city that I wanna check out.

Too little time.

I’m glad you know what TBW means.
I was trying to be clever, I think.

Have you read Piranessi at all?

Book, I’m re-reading Dead Until Dark right now. Watched? Started re-watching Longlegs the other day… I’m a creature of habit, ha

I’m on a bit of a rewatching and rereading kick myself.
I never realized how much rewatching or rereading is an ADHD/autism thing.

Why? LOL!

Yes! I’ve read all her books. She has a talent for pulling these abstractions (like Britishness, loneliness) and exploring them in an informed, nuanced, and satisfying way. And she’s so creative! The magic in her books is so good.

With great authors, you don’t read just a single book (you don’t read David Copperfield, you read Dickens; you don’t read Pride & Prejudice, you read Jane Austen). Susanna Clarke is one of the Greats. I’m glad Piranesi went viral and she’s getting the recognition she deserves from a whole new generation.
