The funny thing is that the generally touted earliest fanfics are Star Trek, back when you signed up for a club and wrote for your own club magazine. Itās also where Mary Sue comes from.
People STILL write Star Trek Fanfics to this day.

Iāve already got something else planned for this convo hehe
The sadness I feel when obsessed with something and itās got like no traction xD
Yep! Iām not that into star trek but I ended up on that side of fanfic once and was wondering how stories were uploaded like yesterday lol
Iām getting some serious war flashbacks hereā¦ It definitely looks like fanfic was the humble beginning of many a writer, mine included. My first completed novel-length story was a Naruto fanfic some ten years ago I also had sone really cool OCs and plotlines that I never really got around to writing. Then thereās this fanfic I had been posting on my old Wattpad account, which was fairly popular, but too good to stay a fanfic, though the whole charm of it is that flair of the anime itās based onā¦
Anyway, I am all for fanfic, and so much of the content we consume today is essentially fanfic, soā¦Though I do wish we could prevent or limit the amount of stuff like 50 shades or 365 days happening
Very similar thoughts! We share a brain!
Lolll
Yeah, I feel like many people are inspired and go okay let me do that but with my own flair!
I need Google doc links!
And now Iām curious! More Google doc links !
Well, since thereās plenty of different people publishing under the Star Trek umbrella, thereās fans who had their writing career started through Trek novels, which is part of why the fanbase writes to this day.
Hell, my sister in law might like that. Lmao
We share a brain!
Therefore, we are wifeyz

Itās on FF, but good luck finding it Youāre better off not reading it, trust me

Now this would be a more decent read, but I kinda stopped writing it halfway through because I never really knew where it was going

I appreciate the vote of confidence
Thereās still huge Naruto fans out there. She about died when my 2 year old started the Naruto Run this last Christmas.
I canāt read or write fanfic because something in my head prevents me from enjoying it. Itās just because I know itās not canon, therefore none of it actually happened, therefore none of it matters. Even though yes, I know, the original work is also fiction and didnāt actually happenāit doesnāt make any sense, like I said, itās just my own head screwing with me.

I want to!!! XD

In my head I replace bad endings with preferred fanfic lol
Twilight went to 50s Shade of Grey and that went to After and then somewhere in there was 365 Days Iām sureā¦ Thereās probably so many more that Iām forgetting or missing just off that one iteration.
Even Twilight itself was a fanfic if I remember right.
jumping in because i know way too much about this pipeline.
Twilight was written based off a dream Meyer had, it was not fanfiction but it was heavily inspired by My Chemical Romance. 50 Shades of Grey is a Twilight fanfic that originated on Wattpad under the title Master of the Universe before being publish. and 365 Dni is a Polish fanfic of 50 Shades of Grey. And then we have the lesser known Gabrielās Inferno series which cycles us back around to being a, ahem, steamy Twilight fanfic.
After is a Harry Styles fanfic written by a married adult woman with children. Not related to Twilight at all, but much weirder, I think.
Haha thank you for your pipeline know leg xD theyāre all connected in some loose form which is prob why I think theyāre all the same dang fanfic xD
Harry always looked like he aged too much, so I can get why a āmarried womanā would write around him. He still looks the part of " he could go before me".
If thereās a book series on Wattpad that they author never finished but you wanna write a continuation, or AU of it and you are a fan of the characters, is that fanfic?
I think it could go under it - itās loosely associated, haha.

Ah, okay. I read something like 10 years ago, and the author never gave us much character backstory but they have lived rent free in my head ever since lol.
Thatās kind of adorable, haha.
Why adorable?
Because youāre probably keeping them alive by thought alone, haha
