If anything, I feel that making a YouTube Short or mini vlog for the day instead of the week is something more enticing.
I don’t care that people want me to do longer vlogs, I can’t see myself doing a week in my life as a writer, especially when I am trying to be faceless and voiceless. Along with editing hour long videos to make into a shorter video that is 15 to 30 minutes long. Five to 10 minutes is more my jam, at least I hope it will be.
I know the YouTube algorithm will make that tough for me, even if I make the mini vlogs and shorts as engaging as I possibly can.
I want to believe that is something that I will be capable of doing.
The people who I want to enjoy my videos are the hobbyist writers and world-builders of science-fiction and fantasy, who also love watching anime and reading manga and/or manhwa.
Another thing is that I am someone who craves gratification, that is the main reason why I stopped making videos, along with not knowing how to edit videos and anything else.
If I went into YouTube just for my hobbies/passions first and last without caring who will see, then I am fine. Even if people do notice, again that is fine, but don’t let it consume me. That is easier said than done for me, sad to say.
Sara LuBratt does some funny shorts. You might watch some of hers to see what she does. She just records them with her phone, and I think most other people do too.
I’ve never tried YouTube shorts and don’t even know how
People do want you to?
I feel like YouTube shorts will actually involve a lot more editing because you need to pack in a lot of interesting stuff into a short recording. You’ll have to be really clever with sound effects and text and everything to keep people from scrolling past it. It has to catch their eye in a fraction of a second.
If you want to do mini vlogs, you’ll have to know exactly what you’re going to talk about and probably test it out many times to make sure you can get it under the 10-min mark. If you can’t, you’ll have to edit it.
I think recording first in IG reels or TikTok just makes it easier to then upload the same content to YouTube shorts, but I think you can just record a short thing on your phone or whatever and upload it directly to YouTube for YouTube shorts.
I always wanted to do faceless and voiceless videos, which is much harder.
Self-esteem is so low that showing myself is a crippling embarrassment for me.
Nobody needs to see what I look like and neither do I.
I hear people say this and people say that in terms of what to do. It’s both confusing and overwhelming because I genuinely DON’T know what I should do.
