Yup.

We passed our goal. So now we’re going to count until a mod interrupts and restarts the game

Thanks! Good luck with your publishing journey too  true about the shorter attention spans. I’m naturally a wordy person, and it really shows in my writing :joy: it doesn’t help that I tend to be very descriptive, in many cases.

Thank you! Your ideas sound interesting too  let’s hope that we both get to finish all our projects XD

Oh don’t worry, I’ll tell him  I never thought that he’d end up being this liked by anyone other than me :joy: he’s going to have to get used to it.

Oh that totally makes sense. Unearned happy endings can also leave a sour taste. I like endings where the characters get the fates they earned or deserved, or endings that you could’ve seen coming.

And about the cheering squad @Churro how about we call ourselves Writers on the Block? You know, like New Kids on the Block, but we replace “New Kids” with “Writers” because it can be a play on Writer’s Block?

Or the Caffeine Squad. I don’t drink coffee  but I do drink a lot of tea.

EDIT: So, remember when I mentioned that J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis used to be part of some sort of writing club and they’d regularly meet at a pub? They called themselves The Inklings. How about we call ourselves The Typewriters? Because we don’t really use ink to write anymore; we type instead :joy:

Let’s see how far we’ll go this time :eyes:

New kids with the the block
One the block.
Blocked pages
Writers on the block isn’t bad actually.

Caffeine Squad is kinda cool as well.

The typlings? The typewriters. Just my type?

I dunno you have good suggestions.

I also had a really weird dream last night.

Stella’s suggestions are better than ours haha.

3 since I just saw this :frowning:

I felt too old for NKotB when they came out, and I was little.

Thanks! Hmmm, maybe we can make a poll and see which one has the most votes, then that’ll be the name of our cheering squad XD

Hmmm, what was it like? :eyes:

Yes good idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Set in 2004, following a TV show, focused on 7-year-old Thomas who was like Kid Pissy but worse then it fast-forwarded to 2022, where he was the most hated man in Britain :joy:

I’mma head to Polls For Fun right now :stuck_out_tongue:

Knowing Pissy, I could understand why he’d end up being the most hated man in Britain :joy:

Also, I’m probably going to be really busy soon, so I hope you don’t mind if I don’t show up to the first few meetings of our unofficial cheering squad with @Novel_Worm. I will join when I have the time, though

Yay  link?

Ha! He’s also kinda a troll and kinda got disowned by his dad and some other dude is after him too, but I need to focus on AISML but this idea is jotted down somewhere.

That’s fine, rl should come first.

Here it is! Polls For Fun - #3916 by stella_vigo

Always good to leave some ideas in the backburner. Try focusing on AISML, but sometimes we gotta take breaks from our main project. That’s when other ideas come in handy :joy:

Thanks

Gonna look now

Tru, you never know when inspiration strikes eh?

Np :stuck_out_tongue:

So did you :joy: 10!

Thank you!
And yeah, wattpad’s audience is really hard to fit into, it’s just really really specific.

Yes! Cheers to that! :champagne: :wine_glass:

He will have to get used to me, yeah. I’m not going anywhere. (and in the most non-creepy way possible, please!)

Yeah those endings are always really satisfactory and great. I love when you have that feeling of that glow and happniess inside just from the ending of the book, because it’s really restonating with me, and I end up thinking about the ending more than I should.

Random question: What’s your most recently read favourite book, and why? And what are some of your top favourite books?

OOH I like all these ideas! Writers on the block seems amazing, but so does the typewriters…

YESSS THEY ARE! What do y’all wanna choose? Writers on the block seems really fun to me, but I really like the other ideas, too.

*toasts using grape juice because I don’t drink alcohol*

:joy: I don’t think it’s creepy at all. And yeah, I’ll tell him to get used to it. He’ll be fine. As long as you don’t peek into his diary…

:flushed:  I won’t tell him, don’t worry

Yeah, true! Great endings are just the cherry on top. It’s the same thing with movies and TV shows. That’s why the ending is one of the first things I determine when I come up with a story: it’s super important.

Recently read book? The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I’m not done with it yet but I really like it. The writing style is just chef’s kiss and the characterization is outstanding.

My top favorite books? I know The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas is my all-time favorite so far. As for the others, hmmm… I really enjoyed The Hobbit, as well as The Little Prince.

I’d put The Phantom of the Opera up there too. I’ve watched the movie—we did as part of class in primary school—and later read the public domain translation of the book. I’m going to reread it soon, in a different translation that’s supposedly more accurate than the other one.

What about yours? :eyes:

Thanks! I’m leaning towards Writers on the Block, The Typewriters, and maybe Caffeine Squad. I’ve made a poll so let’s see which name will win

Cheers! (and neither do I, I’m not even legally allowed to, lol)

Oop-
yes, thank you. Does he know his diary is public knowledge?

Yeah same. I need to know the chracter goals and problems to get to the ending, because that’s what brings me satisfaction. And sometimes I already know the ending and work backwards from there.

Ooh! I have a friend who likes that book. I haven’t read it yet, but it might be on my tbr.

Ooh. Do you enjoy classics a lot? I haven’t read many personally, but I did like Black Beauty and Eight Cousins, and Anne of Green Gables. Then again, I did read these a long time ago as a kid, before my reading taste had developed at all.
We read an excerpt of Le Petit Prince for french class, and I think I might read the original french version soon, because I do want to improve my french.

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri is my most recent read, and I really really loved everything about it. If I had to choose three words to descibe it, it would be gorgeous, breathtaking, desi.
I really loved that book for a lot of reasons, especially because it’s a fantasy set in a world inspired by India. It’s about time those books existed. It’s also become one of my all-time favourites. I’ve re-read it, and it’s just great. The only thing I disliked were some arcs near the end, but that can change depending upon how she handles those arcs in book two. Otherwise, really loved this book.
My other all time favourite would have to be the Harry Potter series. Say what you will about the author, but her writing and story is beautiful.
Another favourite of mine is The Diary of a Young Girl. I read it when I was 12 or 13, and I just relate to her and feel her life and pain so much. It’s a very real account of a very horrifying part of history, and it’s what I love about history, understanding how it influences our current lives, and how it affected the lives of those living in that time.

Yup!
