“I want to show you the giant kodomo dragons we ride like horses. They’re on the other side of the barn.”
I think I want to introduce them to other monsters!
Lockie gasps even louder. “Okay, wait, do you guys want magical ones? We can make a stop.” Her eyes are pleading and she goes to the monster version of YouTube to show a horror movie trailer.
“Not those kinds of dragons. These are land animals and they dig deep holes… There’s also giant scarabs, so I hope your not afraid of bugs. Follow me.”
“Bye, Dan. Bye, Aiden.” Deni waves with a smirk.
Coolio! So they opened books they shouldn’t have and read from them, right?
“They’re enchanted by powerful witches. They don’t need a charge if you keep a moon crystal nearby at least once a week and they can get past most websites with their stupid cookies and blocks and trackers. I’ve even been on the darkest web with this thing.” A trailer for an underwater horror starts playing.
Okay a long short walk later and they should reach the other side! It’s super dark in this part, more like a dungeon just full of dirt and rocks. It looks rather empty other than about ten GIANT komodo dragons chilling on top of some of the rocks like they’re sunbathing in darkness while sleeping.
“Try not to be too loud,” Gio whispers.“If we startle them then they could stampede.”
Magic lights swirl around them and… Poof! They should be transported to a dark hall full of cells… The book they read from probably landed on the ground, just sitting there ominously open.
Lockie explains each thing and her ears twitch at the slight sound of magic before looking around. “Wait… How many of you were there again?”
Some are clicking their sleepy tongues and some are flicking their tails. Some are completely still and some are scratching at the rocks with their long masks like how dogs sometimes run in their sleep…
And then! Pop goes the weasel… Well, scarab. The oversized antennae of a freaking huge scarab beetle pops out from right under… (Pick a character xD).
It looks like they’re in the dank halls of a prison dungeon. It’s mostly quiet with the occasional nearly growl and loud wet sniff…
“…Great… Come on.” She huffs and reaches for his arm to try and pull him in a certain direction.
The beetle turns to them like a giant panting dog waiting for pats.
“Aww, whose a pretty girl?!” Gio pet her.
Good reflexes!
“Is someone there?” a voice shook.“Please help me,” it whispered again.
Lockie sees a few open books on a table. “Let me check these maybe.” She started to read and shook her head after. “Not these.” She stays to walk again and almost walks past the aisle with an open book chilling on the floor.
“Yeah. They’re gentle giants. Just stay out of the stink zone,” he chuckled and rubbed one between its beady little eyes. Its pincers moved happily. “Yo, dude, you good?” Gio looks at Aiden.
“Please help.” It sounds like a woman in distress…
“An open book?” She looks and picks it up, being careful to not read it out loud or lose the page… “Well… They’re dead.” She turns the cover to face him. It’s a stereotypical horror cover. “They transported themselves into a prison for magical monsters.”
“Oh? Do you have a bug-loving friend?” Gio teases.
“I don’t know,” she whispers. “But there’s a ton of scary monsters. Please let me out.” A thin hand slips through the bars. It looks feeble and human enough…
“Yeah… But they may not like it… We need to read the book and change the choices. Let’s get to defacing.” She pulls a pen out of nowhere and picks up the book to set in her lap on the floor. “Sit.”
Aiden: “I mean, the captain has an eye patch and the first mate has a parrot…we do love gold and stuff but the pirates didn’t really steal from other sailors. We did trade with one of the kingdoms, even. There was one time when they were being controlled by one of Duisternis’s minions–similar to the situation at the animal sancuary that Sage and Thorn mentioned–and attacked the kingdom, but we fought her and they went back to normal.”
Isaac notices the glint.
“Wait, is that…?”
Melody is torn between letting him grab the key or stopping him
Robin: “Yes. He told us about how he gave the ringmaster of the circus some money, and whenever we came across someone needing help, he would be eager to do so. He likes seeing everyone smile, too.”
