“Like, normie ones?” Mr. Raven asks.
A dark blob seems to be moving across the floor in the corner of the room.
Would the pup be adorable comedic relief? XD
“That sounds like you totally got turned like a were.” Lockie snickers and caresses her boyfriend’s arm.
“Hmph,” she huffs. “Well, I’m Dee.”
“Don’t you know? You should militarize your people with better resources always.”
“I’m afraid I’m a bit old for school,” she chuckles. “No, just trying to find my way back.”
Yessei grins and stretches up. She’s already pretty tall, standing at 5’ 10", but her toes give her another inch to peer around lol.
“We’re at thirty so far,” Hailey whispers to her purple-eyed friend.
There’s not too many people outside right now. A few are standing around talking to each other.
A young looking woman with sleek black hair walks out of the house that’s down on the other end of the town. She calls something over her shoulder as she does so.
“Uh, I guess?”
Amethyst notices the blob.
“Oh, what’s that?”
Maybe…ok yes Imma do it-
“I had fun playing with her when she was a wolf,” the pup says out of nowhere with a yawn, then yelps in surprise.
“What the…you can talk now??” Pearl exclaims.
Isaac introduces himself as well.
Jacob completely misunderstands what Pat just said.
“Oh, the elves and vamps each have a charm,” he says.
“Oh, oops,” she mutters. “Between Yessei and Dak Phai’s ages I can’t guess accurately any more.”
“Hey, who’s that,” she asks Casus, pointing to the woman.
Casus looks.
“Oh! I saw her in the vision I had. I think she’s the mayor.”
The woman looks up, and quickly comes over.
“Are you Casus?” she asks instantly.
Yessei takes a step back, staring down the mayor lol. “That depends on who’s asking.”
The mayor looks from side to side nervously.
“I need to urge you to come with me,” she says, a hint of fear in her eyes.
Yessei furrows her brows, crossing her arms in anticipation of an explanation.
Casus just looks confused.
The mayor gestures for them both to follow.
“I can explain more after we go inside, but we need to hurry. There’s a monster…”
Yessei follows hesitantly with one hand behind her back as she debates whether to summon a weapon now or later.
The mayor starts to lead them back in the direction she came.
She stops by the group of people talking.
“Twister, I need you to come with us. You too, Gravel. The other two should get inside.”
One of the guys nods, while the other looks surprised to be called on.
Yessei clears her throat with crossed arms, following the mayor still, grumbling about wanting answers.
The mayor leads them the rest of the way back.
Once they get inside, Twister shuts the door, then the mayor sighs.
“Ok. About the monster. There’s a cave nearby, that’s where the monster lives. It keeps coming here to attack, which is why everyone’s staying inside most of the time. The weird thing is, the monster can drain magic-”
“It can steal magic?” Casus asks in surprise.
“What kind of magic can it drain,” Yessei asks. “How much can it drain?”
“All magic,” the mayor says. “And when it drains magic, it drains it until the person has none left.”
“This has happened several times, so everyone’s on edge,” Twister adds. “Sable even told the conductor of the train that comes by to stop coming, so he and the passengers wouldn’t be in danger.”
“Do you have a name for this thing?” Yessei’s lips tighten. “How big is it?”
“Huh?” Hailey looks at bug girl. “Oh no, I’m counting the second until he makes a bad pun,” she snickers.
“What’s what?” Mr. Raven asks the girl named after a stone XD.
“…You’ve literally seen bugs the size of mini horses, are you really surprised?” Gio chuckles and totally moves to rustle her hair in an annoing big brother way.
Dee looks at what he’s eating. “…Gross. What the hell is that?”
Denzel returns. “A delicacy.” He licks his lips excitedly.
“Wait. A charm? Explain.” He’s more interested in learning more now than watching.
“We’ve just been calling it a ‘fox-lynx’ because that’s what it looks like,” Sable explains. “And we aren’t sure how big it is, but it’s big.”
There’s a sudden thud from another room, that causes Twister, Gravel, and Casus to jump in surprise.
pfft-
“That,” Amethyst points at the blob.
Pearl blinks at the hair rustle.
“Ooh, there’s bugs here?” the pup asks.
Isaac just grins with a thumbs up-
I totally didn’t forget about the ceremony, not at all-
ahem anyways-
“The charms help with some things. For example, the charm for the elves helps make magic easier, and the charm for the vamps helps us when transforming into animals,” Jacob explains.
“I’m all for that,” Stardust chuckles, “if it’s a common occurrence. One drink on me if it’s under 45 seconds.” She peeps at her watch to make sure she starts counting right lol.
Yessei huffs. “And, uhm, remind me exactly how long we have again?” She rolls her eyes. “Who am I kidding, this is, as Kalinua would say, an ASAP thing. What direction is this cave in? Take me there. I’ll get it sorted.”
