Stardust chuckles. “Five seconds? I owe you one.” She’s half-focused on the blob, making sure she’s safe from it lol.

“Woah woah woah, wait! We need some sort of plan first!”
She looks scared, but there’s a hint of guilt in her eyes too.

“Oh, we have bugs where we came from,” Pearl says. “The pups just love chasing them.”

“We would get food whenever we got to an inn at a place we hadn’t been to yet. We didn’t know the innkeepers until we got there for the first time,” Isaac says, completely misunderstanding what Dee meant-

Stardust steps back like she’s got the heebie-geebies lol. “Okay, that thing’s officially creeping me out,” she complains.
“It’s just a baby shadow.” Mr. Raven holds out the goopy, slime-like thing.
“…Cute?” Hailey gives a little shiver.

“I know we need to do something soon, but I want to make sure we have a plan. I don’t want anything to go wrong…again,” she whispers the last word.
“Wait…did someone try going to the cave once already?” Casus asks.

“Huh? Are they related to bears?” the pup asks.
Pearl chuckles.
“I don’t think so, Dot,” she says while petting his head.
“Yeah. The inns provide food to people who stay there if they don’t already have any, or if they only have a tiny amount left,” Isaac says.
“Yeah,” Jacob says, looking surprised. “I guess only some vampire universes have that?”
Stardust cringes away from it. “I’ll pass on the baby shadow, thanks.”

He shrugs again. “Whatever. Anyway, are you here to help us put this place back in order?” Mr. Raven asks while petting the shadow like a cat in his arms.

“Come join us for a meal.” Lockie gestures to a table they can all sit at comfortably.

“That sounds too utopian,” she says skeptically.
“Um, yeah! The most I can do is turn into a bat! I so wish I had other forms to choose from!”
Stardust stretches her arms. “Why not? No more war to fight, I’ve gotta put these guns somewhere other than the safe.”
“Guns?” He tilted his head.
“Yeah. Did you say guns?” Hailey nearly bugged her eyes out.
Stardust flexes her arm and taps her bicep with a snicker. “Guns.”

Mr. Raven smiles, thoroughly entertained. “Shall I show you where y’all will be?”

Mr. Raven turns with his hands on his hips and the shadow slinks into his when he places it down on the floor. “This place was exorcized recently. The school wants it ready for guests after weary travels and all, timeline, yesterday.”

“Exorcize? Like in a gym?” She folds her arms over each other. “And, I could probably get some help down here, but I’d have to step out and make a call. Dak Phai and Ansi are hit-or-miss about answering the phone…”
