If you don’t mind leaving more comments on my books, sure! I might have to tailor what kind of payment you’ll have to complete depending on your request, though :eyes:

I hope you don’t mind dropping five application forms :joy:

do you mind if I do it without the coding? it’s a little overwhelming (and i am old :joy:)

i have a cover for the first one already (by the same friend who is currently awol - link here), and i wouldn’t mind something similar, but i have no idea what kind of a cover that is.

i’m fine with something simple, too, but as i am now posting mostly on Inkitt, i think a person on the cover will do better. it’s also an 1890s historical mystery/romance series.

this so you have an idea if you want to request different payment. i will do my best, but i am very slow, which for me is not a problem since there’s obviously no urgency :joy: let me know, and i’ll get on those forms.

Sure thing! As long as all the fields are there and filled accordingly

Oooooh that’s a manip. I can definitely do something like that but it’s gonna take a while, especially since I’m taking driver’s lessons currently :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I guess we’ll both be slow :joy:

is it? well then :joy:

that’s okay :joy: i’m also not necessarily desperate for a manip, so i’ll just whip up the details for you and then maybe we can figure out together what would work best for it. do you mind if i dm you the forms for the 4 unwritten books? i don’t have spoiler-free summaries, but i wanna outline the plots for you to get an idea

Hmm, what about sending the forms here but DMing me the summaries? I would prefer to have everything in one place  but if you really want to I guess I’m open to DMs!

okay, i’ll try to put them up on here over the weekend!

Cover Type (simple/vector/manip): any
Title: The Spying Cat
Author Name: Maria Killjoy
Ideas (please be specific): either a fancy title and an open (Victorian) birdcage (like the cover you did for Poker Battle), or a silhouette of an early-1890s woman with the Tower Bridge in the background (in the style of your cover for The Phantom Conspiracy)
Genre: Historical mystery/romance
Short Summary (optional) It’s 1893, and Kitty’s eleven cousins – her adoptive siblings – have all moved out. She's lonely in the English countryside, with no outlet for her youngest-child mischief. Until Joey, her favourite cousin, returns from America alongside his dashing benefactor, Benedict Hawkins.

Educated at Eton and Harvard, the half-American Mr Hawkins is a man of the world. He has money to spend and business to make, but he soon finds himself drawn to Kitty’s adventurous spirit. Even when she dives headfirst into danger.

Scotland Yard Inspector Tobias Thackery has spent the last ten years looking for his runaway sister. New clues on her trail point to an anarchist plot, and Kitty won’t be left out as Tobias recruits family members into a spy network. The risks are real, and more personal than Kitty expects, on her whirlwind quest to self-fulfilment.

inspo pics (optional) this could be the style for the silhouette, I love the open birdcage embroidery on the dress: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCTdls-A883/?img_index=1

or this, from 1893: Arden Conroy || Author on Instagram: "💜 1890s purple silk velvet dress worn by Esther Mietje Heijman-Salomonson (1867-1935). “In the 1890s ladies wore dresses with large gigot sleeves that made the shoulders look broader and the waistline smaller. In this period, skirts were wider at the back, an effect here further enhanced by the train. The dress resembles a costume tailleur, an outfit consisting of a jacket and a skirt. The blouse is a false shirt front. The decoration is a striking combination of appliques and woven floral motifs.” http://hdl.handle.net/10934/RM0001.COLLECT.51018 Dress with appliqués, c. 1893, Hirsch & Cie, Rijksmuseum . . . . . . . . . . #1890s #gildedage #victorian #purpledress #velvetdress #historicalfashion"

this is from 1892, but I’ve used it as inspiration for something my character wears: Renaissance Fabrics on Instagram: "We love this color (we have a similar one at our online store - Rust Wool Broadcloth). Although this color is not the perfect one for the upcoming warmer period, we still want to present you with this afternoon dress because it is absolutely amazing. It is an American dress from 1892 and is currently housed at the @metmuseum. We love the simplicity of the dress and its elegance. #historicalcostuming #style #vintageclothing #antiquefashion #sewing #antiqueclothing #historicalsewing #thcenturyfashion"

Title: The Scorned Cat
Author Name: Maria Killjoy
Ideas (please be specific): oscillating again between the two styles...either object-based, using a fancy 1895 hatpin; or an 1895 silhouette (with huge shoulders) and a Venetian costume mask, and Eiffel Tower in the background
Genre (optional): Historical mystery/romance
Short Summary (optional) In 1895, Kitty is on her way home from her Grand Tour around Europe. Her friend Alexandra invites her to a costume ball near Paris, France. But a murder takes place at this ball, and Kitty becomes the prime suspect. She must prove her innocence, or face the noose.
inspo pics (optional) I love this butterfly hat pin, it's from 1910 but it doesn't matter lol: https://www.proantic.com/en/863240-hatpinartnouveauperiodhairjewelrycirca1910butterflyinsecthatpin.html

I love this one, with the woman in the middle, like a fairy: RARE & SUPERB LARGE VINTAGE ANTIQUE ENAMEL HATPIN L= 8 1/4 " | eBay

I love everything about this - the pose, the dress, the colours, the silhuette, but that fur trim around the collar makes it winter wear, and my story takes place August - October, maybe November:

I like the attitude in this one, feisty lady, and very interesting getup. silhouette is not my fav tho.

I love the butterflies and the silhouette, the colours not so much, and again it might be winter or spring wear.

this looks very summery, I love the colours and the silhouette.

I think the last and the first one are my favourites, I love the red for a theme colour, since there’s going to be a murder lol. also I’m going to add some pictures I took myself of the Eiffel Tower. hopefully that helps with the copyright issues.

Title: The Covert Cat
Author Name: Maria Killjoy
Ideas (please be specific): object-based: an engagement or wedding ring; or, an 1896 wedding dress silhouette with the Statue of Liberty in the background; I'm thinking a green/white color scheme if we continue with the fashion plate theme
Genre (optional): Historical mystery/romance
Short Summary (optional) In 1896, Kitty's spymaster friend from book 1 recruits her to go on an undercover mission in New York. In order to do that, she must fake her marriage to an experienced spy.
inspo pics (optional) 1896 wedding dress: https://www.instagram.com/p/DHiLalOoVme/?img_index=1

The same dress on the Met website where it says it’s in the public domain: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/81467

1896 fashion plate also public domain:

It’s very faint, but I love the veil over her face - she is the covert cat after all lol. Maybe it can be made a little more obvious in the silhouette?

here is a picture of an 1896 bride with her flowers and her veil:

I do not have a picture of the Statue of Liberty :joy: but I did photograph a replica in Paris if that helps lol

I'll get working on your covers right away! It might take me a week or two to get to all of them, but hopefully I'll send the prototypes much sooner :)

Woohoo, thank you! What should I do for payment? The stuff that’s in the first post? Something else?

Honestly I’m still trying to decide on what payment would work in your case  how about, since we haven’t decided between the two styles yet, you can start with a partial payment? And after I deliver the prototypes you can choose which style you like more and you can complete the rest of the payment after that

To start you can leave 2+ comments on the first three chapters (I, II, and III) of Blood Will Tell. If gore makes you uncomfortable though you can instead leave 1+ comments on each poem in my poetry collection, one line at a time

All right, I’ll try and get to it

question: what kind of comments are you looking for? constructive feedback or some casual reactions?

Casual reactions :eyes: so maybe a few words or sentences, nothing too long but also more effort than a string of emojis lol

I’m also sorry I haven’t delivered the prototypes yet, I’m still working on both styles and looking for the right stock photos can be very time-consuming :sob:

Don’t worry about it! No rush at all  Thanks a lot for doing this!!

Hey, just checking in! If you’d like to clear up your queue and work on something else, that’s totally fine :see_no_evil: there’s still no rush, but I don’t want to hold you up if this isn’t working out for you!

Hi, I’m so so sorry it took me so long! I was relocating to another state and spent way too long on the vector-based prototype :sob: but I finally finished both versions and I’ll just need a minute!

prototype...

Okay so the vector-based cover was trickier since I had to find a suitable stock image that was copy-right free, had the perspective I was looking for, and wasn’t too modern (which most were :skull:), same with the model since I wanted her dress to match the era you were going for. I ended up starting over from scratch since I couldn’t get it right after a while

But thankfully the object-based cover took less time! (albeit still a lot of time :skull:)

Since this is just a prototype some smaller details may not be as neat, but once we know what to go for they’ll be ironed out in the final version!

Color schemes are also changeable ^-^
