Don’t worry, you’re not being annoying at all! And thank you for the comments ![]()
Of course! ![]()
Also tbf I think this one might be my final favourite, because it’s Spanish, and very chic ![]()
Plus I’m hoping to find a different pose for every book, and the facing-forward-with-umbrella-stick seems to be very common ![]()
I haven’t finished up the second cover yet, but in the meantime I’ve resized the first one for Inkitt ![]()
I hope I’m not jinxing myself I think this one will be done more quickly ![]()
By the way, when you mentioned a Venetian mask in your request, do you want it on the face or will you be fine with the silhouette holding it in her hand? Like I’m picturing those kinds of masks that have a stick attached to them so the silhouette could be holding that on the cover ![]()
Like maybe one of these photos
personally the top-left and bottom images would be easier for me to edit in.
Oh, thank you, you’re a doll!
Is it the same file in the original delivery post? So I can re-download it. Edit: I got it!
Sorry, I should have mentioned - I’m happy with just the silhouette and the Paris background
The first one turned out so good - simple and elgant - I want all of them like that
just a girl and the big city. And the silhouette will tell a little bit the story of where she’s at, which is also why I’ve been trying to find different ones. Sorry, I should have clarified! Hopefully that makes it easier for you ![]()
Here’s the prototype! I’ll clean up the details and stuff later as usual :>
Oh she’s pretty ![]()
I wonder though if we can do something about her hand?
in the fashion plate she was resting her elbow on, like, a wall or something, so without it the hand hangs a bit awkwardly.
Also I love the streetlight behind her but it kinda comes out of her hat
any chance you can move it to the right a little bit? If not you can just leave it there. It calls back a little bit to the streetlights in the previous one.
OH, or - maybe you can erase the streetlight and put a light on top of the tower? Here is a reference from its inauguration in 1889 (the Tower was painted red then, but by 1895 I think it wasn’t anymore):
Hmm, I can try to alter her posture so that the hand is a bit straighter
it might take a while to get right but I think it’s doable!
I’ll try! ![]()
I could try tinkering with the light coming from the Eiffel Tower too, except it would be a bit harder to do with this kind of style
I’ll experiment and see which one works better ![]()
Oh, thank you! Take your time
Whatever works!
It was just a random flash of inspiration I had haha. Again, whatever works for you! I do love a lil light in there, it makes it look moody and kinda noir-ish ![]()
Gosh, I’m looking at it again, and it really is pretty!
I wish I could pay you real money ![]()
Aww, you really don’t need to
I’m honored ![]()
Fortunately for you, I don’t accept monetary payment
the only tips I accept are extra comments on my books, but those are totally unnecessary (but highly appreciated)!
I’ll get started on the third cover next week. I’m thinking we could make it sepia-themed, especially since the original color of the Statue of Liberty was brownish due to the copper ![]()
Listen, if you want to try to do something else in the meantime, you are more than welcome to
This story is still in the concept phase. I feel like I have monopolised your time ![]()
Ooh, that didn’t cross my mind
I had put in a green-white colour scheme because the wedding dress fashion plate is mostly white with green decorations, but I think sepia could work great! Kinda like a wedding portrait ![]()
Oh it’s totally fine, you’re not monopolizing my time at all! Working on series covers is fun even if it is time-consuming ![]()
I mean, I could totally change the color of the dress
and apparently, the Statue of Liberty didn’t fully change to green until the 1920s! ![]()
Hmm, white dress on sepia or sepia-white color scheme? ![]()
All right, if you’re sure ![]()
I dunno, whatever works, I suppose? This is the fashion plate. Already halfway to sepia lol. The only note I have about this one is that I love the veil over her face. You can barely see it in the drawing, but she is the covert Cat
So I like that her face is covered. If there’s a way to make that a little clearer in the cover, that would be cool!
I will admit that I’m struggling to see the veil, but maybe that’s just my myopia
I’ll try my best! ![]()
(I will say that I do find the little silhouette facing the opposite side a little more intriguing, though
)
Payment will be to read and comment on the next three chapters of Blood Will Tell, so that’d be VII, VIII, and IX. No rush! ![]()
Yeahhhhh, you don’t see it over her face, but if you look down to her hands, you’ll see that’s where the line of the veil ends, so presumably it covers her face also ![]()

I do agree with this, though! That’s supposed to be the back of the dress
I suppose they had to get creative in a time when you couldn’t click on a gazillion pictures on an online protal
I’m totally down with showing her from the back! But it might be more difficult, no?
I’ve tried to find more references but best I could do is this girl that’s facing away lol. Her dress is also super cute, I actually think I might like it more, but the veil over face won out
I trust your artistic instinct! ![]()
Here’s the prototype! It might take me longer to clean up the details—for some reason Photoshop just decided to screw with my colors out of nowhere so until the issue’s fixed, the polishing will have to wait ![]()
And here are some inspiration pics I used
the statue used to be a lighthouse too, hence the lights at the top.
Oh, Stella, you really are a star!
I love it ![]()
![]()
The only comment I’d have, if possible to make her hand a little less awkward? It looks like it’s shooting spider webs ![]()
I love it a lot tho ![]()
![]()
![]()
I can try
after the issue I have with Photoshop gets fixed ![]()
I will be busy today, so the earliest I’ll get back to you will be tonight or Sunday ![]()
Absolutely no rush, take your time! I really love how you managed to get the lights in there, and the long, mysterious shadow behind her ![]()
so good! Oh and I feel like the silhouette works really well, too, better than the other one. Kinda like she’s about to walk into some trouble, which is exactly right ![]()
