Well, I write about female serial killers so…
- The effects and symptoms of belladonna (deadly nightshade) poisoning, how long it takes to kill someone, how to grow and harvest it to make into liquid poison.
- How to unbury yourself when you’ve been buried alive. How long it takes to die when buried, and how long it would take to unbury yourself, if it can be done before you perish.
- Different types of diamonds, their worth, and the scam the jewelry industry pulled on society with engagement/wedding rings.
- How air embolisms kill a person.
I look up a lot of little things, but those are the big ones I can recall at the moment

Idk about strange but I have had to research writing styles.
And oh boy is mine strange.
Mine is very unconventional bc I plot, write, and edit at the same time (in most cases). This is when I’m writing a novel. When I’m doing prosetry I don’t even plan, I go in headfirst and then see how much of an outline I need. It works better then having everything written out bc then it doesn’t kill the joy of the story.
It took research to find this lol. I thought I was the clear-cut dude with a solid plan always but no lol. This works better.

Depends in the scene I’m writing. I will listen to a romantic and suspenseful ballad just to get the perfect amount of tension in my writing like will they or won’t they, haha.
