What the Caulifower, or a Cajun granny that will spoil you with food?
Both?
Smart man.
But typical. Spouse is happiest when he’s got a meal ready as soon as he gets home. Knows better to complain when it ain’t, but still.
Not a bad thing when you feel like it.
As long as I get food I won’t complain.
Did anyone see this?
Not for us…
Rant ahead.
Very long rant no one needs to read, but I need to get out somewhere so please feel free to ignore me.
I’m in a fair few book clubs for you know, reads, comments, and I use ones for constructive criticism to help when I go to edit (I always draft first and then edit, so this way helps)
I got paired with a really annoying user this week on a lesser-known, new book club. First of all, they didn’t comment to guidelines, I got a few “omg” comments on parts, but I had to ask this person to go back after I put in a ton of help with their technical writing (grammar, spelling etc).
So then I get the general: “omg your writing is amazing, I’m so jelly, there are some words missing.” comment after they go back.
I mean, fair if you think my writing is great, but putting a general comment about missing words and not inline-ing them when you can? come on.
So I ask them to point these out for me.
They go back and comment on a dialogue where a character goes: “something random. Change of sentence in dialogue, anyway.” < I assume it’s the same everywhere but in the UK we tend to say anyway a lot at the end of speech.
This reader goes: “OMG THIS NEEDS TO BE DELETED ITS ANNOYING.”
then proceeds to tell me the phrase “the here and now” is not grammatically correct. When I explain to them it is in the UK, they tell me it’s an American phrase, how could I possibly not know that and I need to change it.
OMG I AM BRITISH YOU CAN SEE BY MY USE OF SPELLING AND IVE TOLD YOU I USE IT MYSELF. PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME I AM WRONG IN MY OWN COUNTRY.
I’m the first to take constructive criticism, but to be told by a non-native British person that I’m wrong in my own country, when I’ve lived here all 28 years of my life, have a degree in writing, that I’m wrong, I just…
It winds me up a treat.
None of their suggestions were even technical, it was because either the phrase was “wrong” (because it annoys them) or because it’s a British spelling.
I then got told the phrase late-boyfriend should be changed when talking about her dead boyfriend.
this is the part of Wattpad I hate. Just because you’re in a different country does not mean I’m wrong. It means I’m right in my own writing. PLEASE LEARN THIS PEOPLE.
Then another comment is that apparently because my character is not over her dead boyfriend and discusses him with her current fiancé, the characters seem poly?
I’m questioning whether this person actually read my book.
Okay, I am now calm. I’ve messaged never to be paired with this person again, so phew
Adapt fanfictions probably
I mean it’s cool, but they will only target the teen fictions/fanfictions aimed at teens. I just hope this W by Wattpad (the one for new adult) takes off. I’m seeing more of it lately.
It’d be nice if they focused more on other markets as well, but I assume the teen market brings in more money so
You know, sometimes people’s writing just doesn’t jive. As you said, you are in a lot of clubs, so just drop this partner. I dropped clubs and groups or asked for change of pairings in the past. No often, mind you, but it is to the point that you are neither using, nor enjoying their feedback, it is just soul crushing.
If they are doing it for their streaming service, it’s not going to get as open an audience as when they were more about being a channel.
Ouch. I don’t know that I would have tried so hard for someone not actively doingthe work to start with.
Yeah I was just staring at it like: I shouldn’t have to keep asking you to do your job/what you signed up for. Clearly you don’t understand my writing, sooooo I’m just gonna stop XD
But at the time I was on the verge of tears, which sounds stupid, but I just UGH.
I’m over it now anyway XD onwards and upwards
Yeah I shouldn’t have really, I was just like so annoyed I put so much effort in and they didn’t. But I know now

What a way to find out. lol
I haven’t been here in a while. Mainly because I haven’t done much writing due to other issues interfering in my life.
Anyway, I am going to do some writing today because I need to get some work done.
(Hugs) I’ve been there. I am enjoying this month without clubs when I am only catching up on reading a few books I want to finish and that make me happy.
Okay, I watched Mozalev cling on for dear life to that top six in his Challenger event (still no dice on that 4S, but at least he saved the combo, sort of), I went skiiing for a bit… and the duck is in the oven.
I think I am out of reasons not to sit down and write

i get what you’re saying 100% about the different english spelling/phrases. im in canada so we obviously follow the “ou” spelling and I can’t tell you how many times people have been like “UH THIS IS WRONG” and when i explain that it’s canadian spelling, they argue about how… im… wrong. ???
on a completely different note, when trying to find pictures for my new book that im totally not working on rn instead of focusing on what i need to i came across a picture that just screamed one of my books to me and finally changed the cover. and the blurb a bit. kinda feels nice to have a lil comestic renovation.
Literally though I’m like: sigh my profile says I AM BRITISH TWICE PLS JUST LISTEN/READ
I’m right, just in a different way ![]()
