Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

So I don’t know what to do, I’ve been losing motivation and stuff and can’t find any inspiration anywhere. It’s frustrating

i’m doing on right now! i’m trying to finish my book by the end of December and post 3X a week (eek). so i’m trying to write at least 1100 a day and i just track each day in google sheets.

started off really well and i was doing over 2K. and then dipped during the week which i expected because after all day of staring at my computer for work, my eyes are so tired.

but i think having a tracker and a goal for each day (plus the overall goal of wanting to finish by the end of this month) is actually pushing me to keep going.

I never officially joined when I did it last month, and I really started a week earlier.

Thats crazy but it all worked out in the end.

I have a lot of repressed rage and I don’t know how to get rid of it. I don’t know why but there are a couple of people who I want to forgive but I just can’t bring myself to ever forgive them. I’m confused and frustrated by the whole thing and I need some help. Anyone got any advice or something? I really need some right now.

It’s not that hard to set up formulas, but it’s time consuming like @ToriHope said.

Hey buddy, you got any advice?

I’d just say to get inspired, look into something new and unfamiliar.

Thanks, I appreciate it, I’ll try that.

you dont always have to forgive them. Sometimes the braver thing to do is admit that they hurt you and that you have to keep living on. YOu dont need to engage with them but you also arent owed forgivenss to anybody.

as far as teh repressed anger-- i mean i doubt anyone on here is a professional in this except maybe @DollyTH-- but it would be helpful to figure out where the repressed anger is coming from. You dont have to say it on here but to write it out to yourself would be helpful i imagine.

also find things that help calm you down - whether that’s getting it out through exercise or taking deep breaths to physically reset the body or listening to music that makes you happy (not angry) — whatever it is. find things like that to help balance you out.

that’s all the free therapy i’m doing today lol

Got to get to the base of the resentment. If you are angry, then you’re hurt. People like to disconnect that part. If it’s something you feel you shouldn’t be hurt by, then you have unrealistic anger.

And I don’t mean that it was right for them to do, I mean like you’re x years old, not 10, nd you’ve grown beyond this thing harming you? Then the anger is unrealistic to have.

I mean, I’m 40, and name-calling doesn’t mean crap to me at my age. So if I was harboring some rage at a name I was called at an inopportune moment, it’s time to acknowledge that I outgrew the hurt, and that the rage has nothing to hold onto but me being bitter.

Honestly, @SayWatt is right. The best and more mature thing to do is just to admit they hurt you and move forward.
It’s hard, it’s horrible and sometimes you just really don’t want to but being the more mature/bigger person is the best way to do it.
You don’t ever have to forgive either, but holding on to the rage/anger is just going to eat you up and make you unhealthy.
So sometimes it’s a case of sort of moving forward/forgiving but never ever forgetting.
Or even if you don’t forgive, just move on. Let the anger come once in a while, but then move that energy to idk something creative and let it go.

It took me years to just let it go, but once I did I found my mental state is so much better.

Probably not helpful but honestly, it’s the best thing to do if you can find it <3

What’s the answer to this riddle:

When you have Writer’s Block for the ending on one of your WIPs, and you’re really into writing the second WIP you’re about half way done with?

START ANOTHER BOOK OF COURSE.

Someone stop me. Seriously.

That’s not going to stop you. Now, a light workshopping of the ending issues may help you get through it, but you like to stew on it while working on something “easier”.

I do I do  I’ve put the one I’m struggling with on a loose ‘hiatus’ while I let the ending come to me. I know the loose plan, just not the ‘journey’
I also like to ask the husband for help, he loves to help me plan :stuck_out_tongue:

So I’ll just start something else because thats apparently easier XD

If you don’t have it yet, you probably need a 5 point system or a “wheel of misfortune”.

Journeys in your stories mostly stem from relationship troubles:

A box full of deal breakers in relationships.
A box full of relationship stressors.
A box full of guilty pleasures (things that would make a character stay that only make sense to that character).
A box full of “acts of God”.
A box full of headlines (like a search of Florida Man).

And a way to randomize them suckers.

For example: Florida Man December 12th headlines is:
Bing:

Florida man shows up ‘buck naked’ to undercover sex sting, deputies say

Chrome:

Florida man accused of handing out marijuana to passersby ‘because it was Christmas’

Firefox:

Deputy cleared for shooting naked man armed with crossbow who claimed aliens were after him
