Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

Well at least you’ve managed to fix a plot issue before you actually wrote it. Imagine if you’ve written so much, only to realize that part of it doesn’t make that much sense, so you’d have to rewrite everything.

In my case I’ve already plotted the entire trilogy, but I’ve introduced new characters and stuff, and I’m just hoping they won’t make me stray too far from the original plan.

They’re stubborn, huh?

Oh I’ve done that :joy: I had to rewrite like a third of one of my books from scratch after I’d finished the entire first draft. Because a character decided to not tell me a small but crucial backstory detail.

Oohhh I hope not! I hate when they throw unexpected things in and you have to make it work

This is the embodiment of “small things make a big difference” :joy:

In my case I pantsed an entire trilogy in the span of six months when I was thirteen. I realized it was cringe and illogical, so I took the whole thing down. Good news is I managed to rewrite and republish the first two books. Bad news, sort of, is that the trilogy is now a longer series and I don’t know when it will end

Oh, tell me about it. I wanted to write a book where the main character and his best friend/crush didn’t even get together, or at least their relationship was implied. Then when I wrote the book they were like “haha no” and not only started dating two-thirds into the book, but ended the story with a steamy make out session on the main character’s bed.

I don’t think anything as drastic will happen this time  unless my other characters decide to rebel too >.>

LOL!

Oh god the things we write at thirteen :joy: I cringe just thinking about it

I had a pair of characters who were supposed to be friends but not romantic at all who turned out to have insane chemistry and I could not keep them apart. I love how their relationship turned out but it’s nothing like how I initially planned.

If there’s one good thing about it is that we can learn from our mistakes XD

Haha, that’s nice! Sometimes great things just come out of nowhere.

Wait a minute! I thought you came to this thread before.

Sorry, guys, I am heartbroken. My favourite guy pulled from 8th position into 3rd, earning bronze, but was passed over for European and Olympics teams in favor of the guy who finished 4th. I feel like crying, rather than writing.
