Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

So basically I was scheduled to work today at 7:00 right? But I was going to be out of town for the whole break. So I called my work and told them I wasn’t going to make it that day, and my boss told me she is going to see what she could do. Just so you know, she didn’t actually do anything. (I already took the 17th-20th off btw, but I really didn’t have a way to get back in time) so comes today, on the way to grandmas house I get a call from my mom, and of course, it was nothing good, like always. Anyway we get home and my mom and step dad lecture me and waist more of my time. They begin yelling at me about taking a weekend off work to go visit my father, then call me immature, lazy, and say I need to grow up. They say I never do anything, even tho I got a job, I have joined several after school clubs, and I make good grades. And at that point I had enough of their crap and just stand there without saying a word. My mom gets mad at me and says “look at his face, no emotion, he doesn’t care, not even going to say sorry.” (Keep in mind every time I do say sorry, their reply is always “no you’re not sorry!”) so I spoke up and told them “every time I do say sorry, your response is always No you’re not sorry, don’t give me that even though I do mean it.” Then they say “No you don’t.” And then i say “you see, that’s why I’m not apologizing, because you are always denying it.” and they always call me immature and she got mad at me, they complained about me *taking a weekend off work to visit family and crap. I can do that if I want to, it’s my job I can request off if I want to, I’m becoming an adult, I have to make my own choices. My mom kept whining to the point where she canceled the trip to grandmas house, for everyone so yeah okay if she doesn’t like something someone does out of their own will, everyone must suffer apparently. That was her choice to cancel the trip, not mine. And my step dad said he’ll force me to quit if I don’t make up the weekend I requested off. Even if I don’t work another few days this week, I’m not quitting my job, no matter what I go through. And told me to walk home (there is no sidewalk on the way there)

Another thing I work every weekend, I’ve only requested off one weekend if that helps give more context

I’m rly sorry you’ve been having all that. My parents already cut me off last year but I related to the schedule messing around with my job. I’ve been dealing with that all month. I hope you catch a break, you need it.

Oh man I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope your situation works out.

It’s fine, it’s not your fault. But yeah I really do need a bit of a break from all this crap I guess

That’s really rough, I’m sorry. Your parents sound like they’re being really unreasonable. I hope things get better

Yeah me too, I’m walking, almost home but it’s getting pretty dark

I decided to run back to work, it was getting too dark and since there weren’t any sidewalks, I was in danger of getting hit by cars. People really like to speed around here Ill tell you that. Luckily I made it, no matter how much I don’t want to, I’m going to text my step dad to pick me up, later.

I don’t know what to do, I don’t want to get lectured for something that is t that big of a deal, but I also don’t want to lose my job because of my parents, and I want to be able to go back and see my dad

In most states, you’re not forced to live with your mom after a certain age, and that’s certainly by the time you can work a job. Nephew is 17, and can refuse to go visit with his mom all he wants. The 13 year old has a couple more years where she is forced to be split between her parents.

Well, this actually kind of helps, thanks

Depending on how old you are, you may have to go to court for it, so look into your state laws.

I got a bit of an ego boost because my mom said that she find Rival and Revels a livelier read than Winners Don’t Have Bad Days and she feels interested in what happens next much more. She was also like, But why did you include lesbians?! Will it hurt the book? I am like, because the character is queer, that’s why she is there. Heh. Generational thing, I don’t think she’d have seen rep in her life of consuming the mainstream media. I know some people only want gold-plated representation, but to me this shows how important casual representation is.

11 chapters edited. Out of 50 (plus 2 bonus chapters that eh whatever about them) thats more than I had done on Christmas Eve.
About to start 12.
SIIIIIGH I still hate it. But it’s good for giving my brain a rest of new plots.

I did some math and I have a shit ton of weight that I need to lose after this surgery.
Man, my body going to hate me, and I will feel so miserable.

Whatever, I am ready for it because I have no choice.
Just an off-topic writing thing that I wanted to share with you all.

Look into your fat to muscle ratio. If you’re way heavy but it’s all muscle, you’re better off than you think, but when you lose weight you loose muscle mass faster without care (body’s way of storing fat for famine). Fat grins more calories, so it’s the last thi g you want to lose unless you want to regain it all, +20 lbs. (That’s how I got so heavy, pregnancy mimicked yo-yo dieting and I’m heavier for it all.)

I have lost to pants sizes in the last eight months but only about twenty pounds. Weights and Taekwondo workouts, that way I’m building muscle while I’m losing fat around my waist.

Interesting. I didn’t think about the fat to muscle ratio.

I just simply did a Body Mass Index Chart to see what weight I should be and if it should match up with my height. In all honesty, my weight is in the early 300s and being that fat isn’t healthy.

Gosh, this thread moves fast. I can never keep up with it.

My index project is done. I did what I wanted from it - to move events around until I figured out the right order. Then I looked for the scenes with those events and adjusted them in my document. Some revisions will be needed for continuity and I’ll need to add some scenes but that was expected. I feel good about this project but the amount of work left to do is daunting.

I’ve continued playing with Campfire. It’s fun to use but I haven’t seen the complete benefit yet.
I think it would be easier to try it out on a brand new project. As is, I’m just rewriting things and that’s not very productive.
I would like to see an export feature there as it makes me nervous to store so much data with no backup. I believe it’s in one of the future updates.
