Struggling Writers’ Daily Den: rant, share, complain, ask, daily progress thing (Part 1)

Patronage is a way for people to feel like they make a difference in your life.

There are still people that support the arts out there.

Kinda like this last sentence I wrote: “Her body rocked gently as the cart climbed the red hill toward Pandemonium.”

Nope. I don’t aimed to be paid, I just want people to read and love my stuff

And, ta-da! At long last, this draft of Lone Werewolf is finished. I said that before, in April, but this time it’s for realz, okay?

Now, the hard work begins… actually nope. I will let it sit and gather feedback and edit it after the ONC.

OMG, so happy to see the word END finally!

I’m also scrambling to do as much as I can for my current WIP before ONC. Once February comes around, everything will get benched for months.

My goal is to hit close to 20K for ONC, so finish it in draft before first submission timeline, then edit for a couple of weeks, then go back to editing Watty submissions and plan a new book. We’ll see if I can stick to this reasonable plan!

setting timeline goals might b a good idea for me but i don’t want to turn writing into a chore… but, i want to finish some of these projects eventually

Timelines doesn’t really make something a chore. It’s just a tool.

My tired brain read this as “so happy to see the WORLD END finally”:rofl::rofl:

In all seriousness, huge congrats!!! It always feels so great to finish a novel! I hope you’re planning to celebrate somehow :champagne::clinking_glasses::tada::partying_face:

I am going to be sticking with both Necromancy and Alchemy for Faust.
He is going to be able to practice both instead of one.

Meh, I just need to figure out how to make both work well together.

I have had an emotional day today.

Such a dry thing to say.

No, what happened is I couldn’t look at a book I have finished and decide whether to upload the whole of it or not because my kids couldn’t be quiet–and THAT is secondary to the issue of it being something I wrote close to my mother’s death.

It’s nothing like what I was going through, but there is one event that comes from my mom’s last months.

I will be able to take criticism on the thing. It’s just so close to her birthday…and I’m not in the right place right now.

You don’t have to upload it until you are ready. Don’t feel rushed and just do it when you feel right about it.

Off-topic slight rant:

I am so tired of this COVID!!! I know this is one of those things that EVERYONE is tired of in their own way but damn this virus is the worst.

Anyway, I am going to write to get my mind of things.

Am gonna echo @Azmaveth

Also, instead of writing I decided to figure out video editing to make myself a little gift. I like that song, so like I want to put clips of skaters I like with it. It is going take a while, lol. Not easy to find bits that more or less fit, but hey, watching more figure skating? I can suffer through that for a couple of weeks

It’s been 3 years. It’s not the length of time but the timing. I did not expect to be this damn emotional over this.not even touching the thing right now and I’m just short of hysterical. Makes me think some of it is hormonal.

I lost my mother seven years ago. It’s still not easy sometimes. I can’t imagine what it would be like with hormone shifts.

It’s crazy. I think I’m being rational and normal, and I’m biting heads off. As soon as someone points it out, I can correct the behavior if it’s just hormones.

The kids brought a bunch of blankets into the living room to make nests and I about burst into tears (and I don’t cry for anything) because it was either cry or…ah…correcting the kids without provocation.

It does not help that the boy’s birthday is 2 days before mom’s, and this is the last baby I will have make 1, and mom never saw him. No end to the angles of hell on this. Lol
