Faust’s story is really starting to grow on me. This is just one of many stories for my Tales of Alterra Novel Series.
I really like how he wants to pretty much be his own man and do his own thing outside of what his family does for a living.
that’s true, but while the little bit of pressure that making a timeline adds would probably keep me more focused and motivated, there’s also a lot of potential for it to become a point of stress if I’m not meeting the goals I set.
Give a shot to reading about setting goals. There are some idiotic but workable ways to make it motivating rather than stressful. But I dunno. I have this goal-oriented, problem-solving mentality, so I get hyped about progress and just derive weird amount of satisfaction from working towards something I want, plus adjust on the fly if something doesn’t work out. I know it’s sometimes makes hard to deal with me.
It’s definitely a challenging personality type. But if we never had them, nothing would get done.
Heh, I know people don’t like me because of that, but, it’s like in that old parable, what can I do? I’m a scorpion.
A bit of a neat thing. The skater I used as face model for my main character in Lone Werewolf represented one of Moscow satellite towns (of bad fame, lol), but I used him because he had that Southern Russia vibe. So, I finally found his profile (he won a couple of mid tier Russian competitions this year—congrats!—so it got created) and he is originally from the same exact area as my main, just a little bit to the east. Yay, I made a great guess!
oh absolutely, Goblin Brain likes Meeting Goals. but Goblin Brain is also shit at prioritization and stress management
The only time Goblin Brain and I don’t get along is when Goblin Brain keeps poking Sloth into a frenzy. I’ll get it done when I dang well feel like it.

poke poke poke lol
My roommate is “close cousins” to GB with the worst of neurotic level anxiety. I can make her miserable, at times.
gb?
Goblin Brain, I assume, whoever that refers to
They give funny names to mental temperaments.
I am done with chapter one, and I love it regardless of it needing some work.
It is still a rough draft. Cut me some slack, peeps!

New year, new business plan. Spent some time revising my indie author business plan for 2022. So, I don’t have to run a loss, I’m going to be limiting my works to three places: Pixiv, Google and Amazon. I’m staying away from the traditional web novel scene this year too toxic. Also, this way, I can also build up a sizable portfolio of completed works.
I’ve already released a novella this year. About to release another novella for next month. I want to be able to have 6 x finished works completed this year, at a novella minium.
Grats!
@anon49297534 you really are all in! Fingers crossed you have a great year
That sounds like a wonderful game plan! I’ll be wishing you the best this year
Worked a little bit on my Valentine’s Day short story yesterday and this morning. It’s 600 words so far for the beginning, so I am confident I can fold it into the 1-2K words format that I prefer for short stories. It’s coming out a bit dry so far, because I am keeping in mind Nick’s instructions to avoid metaphors and pontificating.
My heart is stuck on Lone Werewolf still, so I will need some time away before I start editing.
Right now I think I should work on my Norse meets Greek book. It has a beginning, middle, and end and won’t last very long. Might end up being a novella.
Right now I just want to draw and watch anime, rather than write. Hard to balance my author self with my artist self.
In the meantime, anyone want to play who said it: Tyr or Taylor?
