I definitely second @alcoholandcaffeine’s and @DollyTH’s posts:
If you can’t donate (which is totally okay, everything’s tight everywhere right now!), inviting others to come to the forum helps significantly with ad revenue. If you HAVE donated and didn’t get a badge, PLEASE let us know (I’ve been remiss in handing them out, so please remind me).
Especially with the way other social media platforms are these days (especially Twitter), if you have friends there or places like Instagram in the writing community, please encourage them to join. Many Twitter users are looking for alternatives right now, especially in the writing community, and Wacky Writers is specifically designed for them.
I’m open to running an invite contest (we have only 2 users with the rare “Social Butterfly” badge, and we can definitely do that again for incentive). We’re funded now through March.
I am looking into options for “premium” features, such as designing your own personal theme for the forum, but there are already some things like getting specialized personalized text options like this that we can utilize also.
I’ve seen mentions of putting up the ad banners for our featured lists again. We can do that, it just takes some time and effort to design each one. I’m open to allowing users to pay for relevant ad space for their books or personal sites (such as your self-published works or author websites).
If anyone has other ideas, we are ALWAYS open to that and feedback. Some things may not be feasible based on the size of the team, but we are open to bringing on new mods/team members if you have the time to spare helping us out.
“Donating” can refer to more than just money: if you’re willing to donate your time or expertise to helping us keep the forum running, we absolutely want to know about it. Graphics, merch design ideas (with credit to you of course), social media expertise, even if you want to submit writing-related blogs, we’re open to all of that. If you’re friends with published authors or anyone in the publishing world (agents/editors), the more “verified” people we can entice over, the better.
Thank you so much everyone for your love and support. We want to keep going as long as we can, because we love this community, and as others have mentioned, we’re open to long-term solutions.
